Painless Lump On Rib Cage Symptoms
Many swollen neck lymphs. Itchy eyes. Hard lumps started on collarbone (was painful now isn't), more painless ones formed in 3 months, rib cage, shin, back of neck few on chest. Good blood work, blood counts, crp, clean chest x-ray. No other symptoms
Lymph glands: Generalized enlargement of lymph nodes are seen in infectious mononucleosis, malignant blood dyscrasias and other infections. I'm not sure that they would be found on the rib cage itself or on the shin bone. I recommend an evaluation by a hematologist or an infectious disease specialist. A lymph node biopsy as well as other tests may be advised by the specialist. ...Read more
Lump on my lower left rib cage, roughly 2 x 1.25 inches, bit soft, movable, painless, only visible and palpable when I stretch upward. Help please?
Lipoma: A lipoma is a slow-growing, fatty lump that's most often situated between your skin and the underlying muscle layer. Often a lipoma is easy to identify because it moves readily with slight finger pressure. It's doughy to touch and usually not tender. You may have more than one lipoma. Lipomas can occur at any age, but they're most often detected during middle age. A lipoma isn't cancer. ...Read more
Lump below rib cage in centre, feels hard, does not hurt. Feel when lying down on back. When I do a sit-up I don’t feel it.?
Could be a lipoma?: If it’s smooth and feels slippery it could be a common, non cancerous growth made of fat tissue. Your GP can feel this and confirm this and may have a picture taken (for example with an ultrasound) if there’s a question about what it is after feeling it. Sometimes if it’s very bothersome, it can be removed easily and rapidly. ...Read more

36yr male, found a lump below rib cage on my back, left side about 3-4 inches from my spine and closer to my side. No pain and under skin. What is it?
Lump: Hard to tell exactly what it is without seeing or feeling it, but if it is well circumscribed, mobile, chances are it is a sebacious cyst - a cyst originated from an oil gland whose oil could not evacuate and built inside to form a cyst. It's benign but above certain pressure it may pop open and get infected. ...Read more

I've found a soft lump on my back. It's approx 2 inches below and 2 inches across from my armpit. It's on my rib cage. It's also painless.
Lump: If the lump is on your back, I would think it is a cyst of some kind. If it is mobile (meaning you can move it side to side, up and down) and it's been there for a while unchanged, it sounds like a cyst, probably sebacious (oil gland clogged). I would see a doc to confirm it, though, and have peace of mind. ...Read more

I have a lump below my right rib cage. No pain. Can feel it more when lying on back. But it seems to be changing positions when felt at different time?
Hard to say: If you have a soft tissue lesion anywhere that you have noticed, it bears observation. Lesions that are increasing in size, especially rapidly, or those associated with increasing pain, are concerns for malignancy. A painless mass which is constant in size, unchanging in appearance, and unchanged over time is likely benign. Lipomas are the most common soft tissue benign lesions; common and benign. ...Read more

Small, hard, almost egg shaped lump under the skin on far right of back, just below rib cage. No pain. There a couple months. Any reason to worry?
Always worth a look: At 16, it would be extremely rare to have a "bad" mass like a cancer, but there can be things like sebaceous cysts, small abscesses, ingrown hairs, lipomas, and foreign body granulomas....So if it becomes painful or larger, gets reddish, or changes color, or if you have the time while you're off this summer from school, I would recommend that you have your family physician or dermatologist see it. ...Read more
