Should I be concerned about a smooth painless lump on the back of my shoulder. I noticed it about a 1yr ago but it has grown twice the size.
Seek medical advice: Any lump that grows beyond one centimeter in size needs a medical examination and a biopsy consideration. Leaving a growing mass unattended can be a disaster in the end. No more delays...Go get a check up and ask for a biopsy, if need be. ...Read more
Painless, unmovable, hard lump under my right shoulder blade. I was feeling some pain yesterday on my right side coming from my back to the breast.??
Varies: There are a number of possibilities and I would not hesitate to be seen for it. There is a condition in which a bone outgrowth from either the scapula or rib can cause what you are describing, but there are other causes as well. An exam and appropriate studies can determine the cause. ...Read more
I have a lump on the top of my shoulder that is roughly around two inches around. It is soft and painless. What could this be?
Depends: Depending on the location, this could be a lipoma or fatty tumor or could represent a ganglion off the ac joint which is more anteriorly based towards end of collarbone. If the mass is enlarging it may be important to have this checked out as soft tissue sarcomas and more aggressive things can be painless at first so would follow this appropriately. ...Read more
My husband has about more or less 1.5 inch lump in his back between the shoulder blades. Movable, painless didn't change in size. What could it be?
Some thoughts...: A movable, painless lump on the back might be a sabaceous cyst (not much trouble unless infected), or a benign fatty growth called a lipoma. But the fact is, it's a lump. Have your husband's doctor look at this. One surgeon I know says, "the best place for a lump is in a specimen bottle." of course, that's not always the case - but have his doctor evaluate him to be sure. ...Read more

Hubby has two painless lumps one on back other on shoulder. Shoulder lump when pressed had foul smell pus in it. Back lump is large in size. What it is?
Large hard lump in middle of my back, directly in the center, between shoulder blades. No pain where lump is, muscle to the left, neck and shoulder ar?
See a doctor: How long have you had it? You should have it looked at by a doctor, but the most common thing there is lipoma, which we leave alone if it doesn‘t bother you. However, we never truly know what it is unless we remove it and do a biopsy. If someone tells me it has been present for years, I just leave it alone. ...Read more
Small 1 CM lump where neck meets shoulder, firat noticed over a month ago. Painless, underskin down toward the muscle. Is 14 years old.
See your doctor: This could represent a swollen lymph node if it's closer to the neck. However, given that it's 1 cm and persists, this should be evaluated in person by a doctor. It might require x-ray imaging or even biopsy to ensure that it's benign and not representative of some kind of malignancy. Don't panic, just be cautious and have it evaluated soon. ...Read more
Have lump of scar tissue size of marble at shoulder blade since shoulder injury 2 years ago. No pain to touch. Cause problem? Need to remove? How?
Have this checked: It is my advice that you have this lump checked out. It may very well be benign. However cancer can develop on scar tissue and this can generally be cured if treated properly. I suggest having a biopsy taken of the tissue for a pathological exam. Please make an appointment at a clinic to begin to follow this up. ...Read more

Pea sized lump on trapezius muscle, on shoulder/upper back not neck, hard, immobile and painless, feels like it's attached to the muscle, what is it??
Trigger point?: Could be a lymph node, an area of muscle fibers that contracted and formed a small mass (overuse or after trauma) and/or may represent a "knot" or trigger point that can respond to tissue massage. If not growing or and painless ok to observe;get it checked out if growing/painful or persists (to make sure it's not something serious like a malignant growth) ...Read more

Round Lump at tip of shoulder blade after shoulder injury. Is that scar tissue? No pain when touched. Will it cause problem? See what type of doctor?
Shoulder: Depending on what part of the shoulder blade it is located on it could be some calcification that has developed after the contusion that occurred, probably the best person to see would be a orthopedic surgeon who could further evaluate this concern, they could possibly get x-rays if indicated or obtain an MRI to make sure this is nothing more then post from attic scar tissueor calcification. Good luck ...Read more
I stretched my left arm over my left shoulder-not something I normally do. A itching lump arose 2 days later, but no pain. Did I strain a lymph node?
No: No, you can't strain a lymph node by stretching. If the lump is itching and is in your armpit, it could be a clogged sweat gland that has caused a pimple to form. If it gets big enough over the next few days, it would be good to see a doctor to know what it is. ...Read more

I feel there's a lump in the right side of my throat no pain while swallowing. Lump sensation hurts when I take a deep breath and right shoulder pain?
Hard to say: Would need more info and exam. If it has been fairly recent swollen nodes can cause similar symptoms and are often associated with a viral or bacterial infection. A good medical checkup would probably be a good place to start. ...Read more
Not likely, but: A cancer of the clavicle bone would be highly unlikely. However, there are lymph nodes located just behind the mid point of the clavicle that might be enlarged and mistaken for the bone itself. Enlargement here would be significant. If this painless lump has been present for years without change likely insignificant. If it's just been noticed more recently, or getting larger, have it examined. ...Read more

Bony lump medal end of clavicle appeared 1 wk ago. No pain and does not move, X-ray shows normal but it can be seen and felt. No trauma. What next?
Hard to say: Hard to say. The clavicle articulates with the sternum medially. Sometimes the sternoclvicular joint can beome quite enlarged, often from an injury or an arthritic condition. This might be what you are describing. An exam and possibly an xray can usually determine the cause. Thank you for your question. ...Read more
1 look=1000 words: How big is the lump? Is it painful? Discolored? More information or maybe a picture would be helpful to further give an impression of what this means. It could be many different things, and many of these are not serious medical problems. Getting a doctor to look at it will help to tell what it is, but sometimes you don't know for sure until it is removed. But not all lumps need to be removed. ...Read more
