I have a white bump in the side of my tongue and a sore (muscle ache type) throat on my left side only. The white bump is painful. What is this?
Viral: Likely viral, recurrent, possibly herpetic.Get a more detailed answer ›
Tongue lesion: Greetings. The tongue lesion on the tip is probably a benign fibroma. This most commonly occurs from self induced biting trauma. This may have occurred at night while you are asleep. As tYou look at the lesion, I usually view the associated teeth as the teeth come together in full closure. See your ENT physician for an evaluation and possible excision all biopsy. Good Luck.
Might be ok: Have your local md or ENT evaluate it. It might just be trauma from an old bite on the tongue, or an area where the tongue rubs on a sharp tooth. However, any lump in the mouth or throat, especially if enlarging with time, needs to be checked out.See 1 more doctor answer
Sialolith: Most likely it is a sialolith which is a small white calcified stone which can block your salivary duct (a duct where your saliva flows out from under your tongue) and cause the area to swell up and become painful. You need to see your dentist immediately to see if he or she can remove it. You may possibly have to see an oral surgeon for a minor surgical procedure to remove it.
Inflamed papillae: Most commonly this is an inflamed taste bud or papillae. Should respond fairly quickly to gentle brushing and mouthwash a couple of times a day. If it persists for more than a week or two should have it checked out by head and neck surgeon or oral surgeon.
I have a small white bump under my tongue and it's weird shaped and is slightly painful when I move my tongue. What could it be?
Blocked gland!!!: There are salivary glands under the tongue and if blocked can present as a bump which may be painful. There are other causes as well and a thorough evaluation by a physician is necessary, a referral to oral surgeon may be needed to asses it further.
My mouth feels like it has cuts. On the roof of my mouth and around the sides of my tongue. There's a white bump on my tongue?
Be seen: Sounds like you have ulcers/blisters/cuts in your mouth which is not normal so be seen ASAP. Good luckSee 1 more doctor answer
I have a white bump on either side of my the vein under the middle of my tongue. They hurt, what are they?
Submaxillary ducks: You may be describing the openings of the submaxillary duck. These are major saliva glands which help you in the digestion of your food. This area could become sore for several reasons one simple reason might be some mild inflammation, which you can probably resolve was gargling with some salt water. If it continues to bother you I suggest you see your family doctor.
4.5 year old daughter, white bump on/under tongue. 3-4mm diameter. Seems hard. Says it is not painful or sensitive. 1cm behind tip of tongue in center
Accident history?: It sounds like a scar from a fall. Has that ever happened? Time to visit a pediatric or general dentist for an exam.
I have a white bump on both sides of my tongue. They came on different nights while I was sleep. I jump up out my sleep. The pain felt like I bit my t?
That's possible: It is possibly related to bruxism or grinding/clenching of your teeth, which is not that uncommon. Sometimes you can nip the side of your tongue....then it swells and is more easily bitten again. Bruxism is considered a sleep-disorder related to unconscious muscle contraction. Dental treatments include mouth guards or correction of your bite. Stress management and muscle relaxants may also help.
After last tooth clearing I developed a white bump on my tongue which was painful for a week-then no pain but lump remains after 3rd week with no pain?
Don't know: I don't know, so get checked by dentist for the presence of some toxin, pathogen, or allergen as the cause of the white tongue bump
Would a single small white bump on the side of my tongue be a sign of hiv? Also bump under skin on jawline. Can't tell if lymphnode or zit. Hiv or no?
NO!: You can't make a diagnosis from a single white bump on your tongue. There are no lymph nodes on your tongue and you don't get zits on your tongue. See a doctor.See 1 more doctor answer
Recurring white bump, side of tongue. Comes every cpl wks. Looks like whitehead, scrapes my teeth, goes away in ~3 days. Pulled the head off=bleeding?
White bump: Sounds like it could be an Apthous ulcrr. However I would definitely have it checked by your dentist when it is acute not after its healed. That would give him the best information to make a proper diagnosisSee 2 more doctor answers
Have had a white bump on one side of the tongue for 3 months. Brush biopsy and swab of throat were normal. What else can it be caused by?
Probably a fibroma: Glad you had it biopsied...a fibroma is benign and can be old "scar" tissue where you've traumatized or bitten (maybe accidentally) your tongue. The next most common thing would be verrucous in nature (wart). If you're bothered by it you're dentist or oral surgeon can remove it, preferably with a diode laser
I have a swollen tongue and scalloped on sides with a red bump about the size of a pea with white bump on top. Looks almost like a pimple. Any idea?
