I came down with a sudden severe sore throat that is getting more symptomatic. Itchy, painful swallowing and occasional coughing. When getting better?
What's the cause?: Your question cannot be answered accurately based on the limited information provided. For instance, it would be helpful to know: your exposures, what does your exam show, what are your underlying risk factors and illnesses that so predispose, do you have untreated GERD with larygo-esophageal reflux, do you smoke...?
I have heartburn, difficulty/painful swallowing, feels like there's something stuck in my throat, chest pain/tightness and a cough. What could it be?
Globus sensation?: Sounds like you experience the feeling of a ball or lump in the back of your throat that you have to swallow past? If so, this is "globus." alternatively, you may have laryngo-esophaeal reflux without heartburn. Sometimes, the actual swallowing mechanism may be impaired due to "spasms" or dysmotility. A gastroenterologist or ear-nose-throat specialist is a good starting point for evaluation.
What should I expect at my first ENT visit for an ongoing soar throat and painful swallowing saliva? I see them tomorrow. Should I bring someone with me just in case?
It is always a good: Idea to have someone with you when you visit a health care provider so that you don't miss important explanations and instructions. Sometimes when you are anxious you won't do a good job of hearing even though you are intently listening. It is unlikely you have anything serious but bring a friend all the same.
Doctor can check: Sore throat symptoms can be from cold viruses, strep throat, allergies, etc... It can be difficult to tell what the cause is. If throat symptoms only last 1-2 days, it was likely allergies, irritation, or a mild cold. Doctors have 5-minute tests for strep, so a primary care doctor can diagnose strep and start antibiotics "right away". Strep throat treatment is often with amoxicillin.
Yellow, white tongue. Sore throat, like something in back. Painful swallowing and nausea. Voice sometimes sounds funny. Just finish h plyori treatment?
Doctor can examine: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep). Some throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin can decrease pain.

Child has painful lump in neck, painful swallowing, coughing blood for 18 months. Chest xrays clear. Gerd + asthma meds not helping. What could it be?
Many possibilities.: 18 months is a long time for a child to be ill without a formal diagnosis. Sometimes blood with coughing is actually from the tonsils or sinus drainage, so look to the head as well as the chest and esophagus. After ENT exam, more thorough pulmonary studies like CT scan or bronchoscopy may be indicated, as well as GI endoscopy to assess esophageal inflammation like EE.
In tears from pain in lymph nodes, pain in back of neck, horrible migraine, night chills and sweats, painful swallowing, ear ache, head & back of neck incredibly tender?
Sore throat and painful swallowing with headache and body aches. Also sufffering from allergies, are these things related? If not, what's causing it?
Secondary sinusitis: If your illness started as an allergy and now you are sicker and have started having a sore throat and yellow discharge, you probably have a sinus infection that is caused by your allergic swelling blocking the openings to your sinus cavities. Once you cross over from allergies to a sinus infection, you should avoid antihistamines. They dry your secretions and make your infection last longer.See 2 more doctor answers
