What can I do for the painful red blisters filled with water all over my lower back from cellulitis?

What can I do for the painful red blisters filled with water all over my lower back from cellulitis?

Depends on cause: If the blisters don't cross the midline, consider shingles (tx: acyclovir). With cellulitis present, if the area of blistering is also very edematous (swollen), then mobilization of fluid from this area (e.g. Diuresis) can also help, along with abx. If the pt looks ill, has a fever, and the blisters are looking more violaceous, then go to the ed- the infection may be getting worse. ...Read more

My partner foot is red & swollen with purple patches, yes he had water retention about 2 yrs. No its not going up the leg like cellulitis. Any idea?

Clotting?: It sounds as if your partner needs appropriate compression garments to reduce edema and swelling but this is best for venous stasis and not necessarily for arterial insufficency. I would be concerned about varicose veins as well as a potential blood clot (s). A peripheral pulse exam and possible ultrasound imaging may be necessary to evaluate possible etiologies. ...Read more

Boiling water spilt on top of foot. Red and painful. No blistering so far. Can I treat this at home?

Keep cool, not cold.: The burn extent is probably a first or second degree. Both can be treated at home if you feel comfortable doing it. Start by rinsing the burn in cool water for 15 minutes. Wash the burn with mild soap and water. Gloves should be used to prevent infection. Use a thin layer of antibiotic ointment keep clean. Elevate the foot and take OTC pain relievers. To remove all doubt, visit the urgent care. ...Read more

My hubby has cellulitis of the rt leg x1 week. He has been taking bacterum. Redness has gone but not the painful swelling. Is this normal? Yes? No?

Wrong Diagnosis?: Cellulitis is basically a visible inflammation (itis) of the skin and soft tissues (red, hot, swollen and tender). It can be caused by many things including sunburn (radiation), trauma (sprained ankle) or poor vein circulation (stasis dermatitis). It need not be caused by bacteria. If you have repeated episodes of this, get to a wound care or vascular specialist, the diagnoses you have is wrong. ...Read more

When will the pain of a small 2nd degree burn caused by boiling water on skin causing redness blister and pain size of a dime subside?

When will the pain of a small 2nd degree burn caused by boiling water on skin causing redness blister and pain size of a dime subside?

2nd degree burns: 2nd degree burns are the heating of the epidermal layers of the skin causing protein denaturation and the transudate of tissue fluids with a bubbling of that epidermal layer. With this separation of skin layers the cutaneous nerve ending ate exposed and this the pain you are feeling. Upon blister opening, releasing the fluid transudate the pain should subside. Or place a medicate covering to cover ...Read more

Have a bug bite it is now inflammed red hard and warm to touch. Very itchy and painful should I be worried. I have a history of lupus & cellulitis?

Norma/Concerning: When our skin sustains an injury, immediate response is inflammation (red, hot, tender swelling) for about 48-72 hours. This is the body increasing blood flow to the area to bring healing factors and is normal healing. If it gets worse over time (increase in pain, fevers, chills, more redness), then it may be infected or the lupus may be reacting. If so, then seeing the doc may be your best bet. ...Read more

Be sure too take the entire prescription even if symptoms go away in a couple of days if not improving by day 5-7 then call the office. Make note that asking how long is a good question to ask the prescribier 1st visit. ...Read more

Scalded the top of my hand with boiling water! It's super red, darker red in some spots and I can see where blisters are going to form, what do I do?

Cold compresses: Sorry to hear. Apply cold compresses to the area. After about 20-30 minutes, check the blisters to see if they are getting worse. It sounds like a second degree burn. Get topical silvadene (silver sulfadiazine) and apply to blisters and dress it with sterile dressing. Deroofing blisters may need a doctor to examine first. Hope this helps. ...Read more

Bit by gnats on arm. Initially, small red bumps that swelled for a day, now a week later small water like blisters that won't go away. Help plz.

Hives?: Are the new lesions itchy? Papular urticaria can occur a week after exposure to insect bites, with some degree of sensitivity to insects. Gnats are not a common culprit, but certainly can induce a localized reaction if sensitized. Keep skin well moisturized and expect resolution in short time. If itchy, try cetirizine (read label), an otc antihistamine. See doctor if rash persists. ...Read more
