Painful Lymph Node Neck
Prolonged fever(>7w)+swollen painful lymph nodes(neck and behind the ears)+headache. Tested -ve for HIV(ELISA 1&2),Hep-B&C,VDRL what else could it be?
Many causes: There are many causes for swollen lymph nodes and fever. Remember there is a window period for HIV testing - about 3 months and hepatitis up to 12 weeks! Not from medication: A swollen tender lymph gland is highly unlikely to be from taking a new medication. Lymph glands are situated around the body and serve to trap infectious organisms(bacteria or viruses) to prevent their spread to other areas in the body. Enlarged painful lymph nodes in neck shoulder and ear pain for about 5 days. This morning i had one suddenly pop up under my chin close to my neck.

Inflammation in H&N: Painful swollen nodes an indication of an inflammatory process in the H&N area. If the nodes are high in the posterior neck region, examine the scalp for an infection. If in anterior triangle mid neck one should do endoscopy to see if lesion in area of larynx or cords . See answer: Only concerned in that your newest symptoms may represent a third type of infection in a relatively short time. Immune system suppressed? Health department: You have a high deductible co pay. You have been to ED and antibiotics are not working. Try your health department or your local doctor first. Diff possibilities: Tender is usually a good sign & if you have a few relatively small tender lymph nodes & you struggle with allergies or have a cold, those could cause it. However if you have a very lg or hard, immobile node(s) it's best to get that checked out.
