I have a medium to small lump right above the left side of my ankle on my left leg. It is not painful at all. Any ideas of what it is?

I have a medium: It could be a cyst which is filled with fluid and can happen after an injury or almost jello type tissue if you have had it for a while or a lipoma, that consists of fatty tissue , both cause no problems. However, if the lump is getting bigger or is not going away, best to see a podiatrist or a surgeon , get an ultrasound and/or an MRI to find exactly what it is. ...Read more

Can you get sarcomas in the shin area of leg? If so what are the symptoms? I have a non painful lump that won't go away. But it's not getting bigger

Can you get sarcomas in the shin area of leg? If so what are the symptoms? I have a non painful lump that won't go away. But it's not getting bigger

Yes, but rare: Your concern will likely only be alleviated after you've seen a physician, had an x-ray and been given answers as to the cause of this lump. Even without seeing you, I would say that a sarcoma would be an extremely unlikely cause of this lump. Nodular areas in the shin are quite common and sometimes develop after minor trauma to the area. These can take months to resolve. It's time to see a doc! ...Read more

Here are some...: Which thigh do you have pain? How has it begun, evolved thus far? In a clinical profile 3 weeks after appendectomy, it is still reasonable to consider if such pain is procedure- or disease-related. Seeing lipoma in groins on ultrasound is common. So, ask and work withe the surgeon for individual detail timely. ...Read more

Lymph glands: Generalized enlargement of lymph nodes are seen in infectious mononucleosis, malignant blood dyscrasias and other infections. I'm not sure that they would be found on the rib cage itself or on the shin bone. I recommend an evaluation by a hematologist or an infectious disease specialist. A lymph node biopsy as well as other tests may be advised by the specialist. ...Read more

I have a 2" long hard lump in the crease of my groin and leg, it is not painful. Should I be concerned?

Mysterious lump: A lump in that area could be several things. The most likely thing is an enlarged lymph node. Lymph nodes can be enlarged for a number of reasons spanning from a simple infection to cancer. Another possibility is a hernia. This is where a section of bowel pushes through a weakness in your abdominal wall. You should go see your doctor to get it checked out. ...Read more
