The lump is on my right knee at the side. It causes me pain all the time and it is visible to all people. What is it?
You describe is probably not a part of the knee joint but may be LIPOMA (fatty benign growth) which has outgrown it's blood supply and is inflammed. In any case you require a "HANDS ON" Examination!!
Hope this is helpful

Fluid filled lump on left part of right knee. Hurt to touch. Next day lump is gone but it still hurts to touch. Any ideas of what it could be?
It might be bursitis: Blister or a hemtoma, based on the fluid-filled feature of the lump. Did you hit your knee recently or do you spend a lot of time kneeling? I would apply a cold compress to it and take Advil (ibuprofen) for pain if needed. If you start to have increasing pain, difficulty walking or develop fever, I would see a doctor right away! Painless oval lump above right knee. Firm and doesn't seem to move. No discomfort or recent injury. Near former unicameral bone cyst.?
More information ndd: You probably have an idea whether it's in the skin layer or deeper. It sounds deeper than the skin (doesn't move). Since firm, it's prob. Not a benign fat tumor (lipoma). In that case it suggests either a cyst (fluid-filled) or a fibroma (think of as overgrowth of scar tissue), both also benign. However this is something you may want to have your doctor, NP or PA look at sometime. ...Read more
