Lump in abdomen: It's hard to tell what it could be. I would watch for any symptoms: enlarging size, pain, nausea/vomiting, chances in stool (either constipation or diarrhea). It wouldn't be a bad idea to see your doc and get it evaluated. ...Read more

Sounds like a hernia: Probably a hernia. Ok to see a primary care provider for an exam. No emergency is its not too painful, but should get it checked out. Timing of evaluation depends on length of time it has been there, and severity of symptoms. Hope this helps! ...Read more

Lump in my stomach. About 2 in long. 2 inches above my belly button slightly to the left. Will rise to the surface and become visible. Then when mashed it's painful and will move.

Possible Hernia: By your description it sounds as if you may have a ventral hernia. I would like to know if you ever had any surgery in the past, including laparoscopic surgery. Frequently, with laparoscopic surgery a small incision is made around the umbilicus (belly button) and it is not uncommon that a piece of omentum (fat from inside the bell) or bowel could get caught. Could be a hernia: The first thing that comes to mind with the above description is an incarcerated hernia, although there could be other causes as well. An incarcerated hernia is potentially, but not always a surgical emergency. It would require a hands-on examination by a surgeon to make that determination.
