What is a oval lump on the armpit and is painful
?

This is probably...: Probably an enlarged lymph node (which would be present if there was a local infection such as an ingrown hair). Could also be a boil (which is collection of pus under the skin). In any case, you can apply a warm compress to it 3x daily and simply watch it. It should shrink and become nontender. Seek medical attention if it does not resolve or if you develop fevers. ...Read more

Arm pit lump: Most likely would be an inflammed sweat gland. Probably its infected. For treatment: use a topical antibiotic and do not use anti-perspirant type deoderants. This needs a hands-on examination for accurate diagnosis, along with a history. Do you own cats? See your PCP and go from there. Good luck. ...Read more

I am a male with a painful lump under my armpit that comes and goes. What is this?

Lump in armpit: What you are describing sounds like a sebaceous cyst. A cyst is basically a pocket that forms in skin. These cysts can become inflammed, enlarge and become tender from time to time. However, it is difficult to definitely say what this lesion is without examing it. I recommend you see your doctor to confirm this diagnosis and see what the best treatment is. ...Read more

Hi all, i noticed a lump under my left armpit about a week ago. It was small at first but has now grown to about 2-3cm and realy painful.

Abcess.: Sounds like you have a small abcess. Pain may be relieved by incision although it is by no means necessary. May use hot compresses several times a day until this "points" and ruptures on its own. The fact that pain is bad indicates that may be soon. It is remotely possible that this is a lymph node that has been very stimulated. Same treatment. See someone if not improving. ...Read more

For a week now i've had a lump under my right armpit it was hurting but now it has went down but i still can feel it and its not painful at all.

LN vs abcess: It is possible this was a small abcess perhaps a sebaceous cyst which is now resolving. This could also have been a reactive lymph node which was responding to some perceived antigenic threat somewhere in your arm ( scratch or infection?). Young people sometimes have a pretty dramatic immunologic response. Cancer does not resolve like this. ...Read more

I felt a lump inside my armpit. It can't be seen and it's not painful but I can feel it when I press down. What can it be? And what should I do?

2-WeeksWorryVacation: That's most likely a lymph node. Lymph nodes get bigger when they are fighting an infection or inflammation or other body invaders. Get a good feel for its location and size. Then leave it alone for two weeks (so you don't irritate it), then check again. If not gone and is the same size or bigger and/or gets painful or tender, get a doctor to examine you and try and figure out why it's there. ...Read more
