May need strep test: Sore throat and tonsillitis symptoms usually are evaluated by a rapid strep test in addition to an exam. If there are strep germs, antibiotics such as Amoxil or Zithromax are needed. Sometimes tonsils get whitish mucousy stuff on them. A patient can call around town to see if there is a new PCP who can fit her in within 48 hours. Going online to her insurance's website can bring up a PCP list. ...Read more

Extremely unlikely : This lump may be due to a curve in the artery or just being closer to the skin. It may not even be the artery! an ultrasound of the carotid arteries will tell the story and is safe and painless. ...Read more
