Either way, when higher that normal pressure is being applied to the toe, it will react. The reaction is pain, swelling, redness and often callous formation. Probably a ganglion : Cyst. Typically come from a joint. Can be very painful. Most hand bumps are benign. Typically can be aspirated with a needle and decompressed or otherwise surgical excised. Used to call them bible beater lesions because the biggest book on the house was the bible and by smacking it with the 'good book' caused them to rupture. I do not recommend this though. Most likely its the: Ends of a broken bone which probably are angulated at the break site or if the injury is 4-6 weeks old, it might be the healing bony tissue. The tendon will probably not cause a bump, unless its torn with rolled edges on it and that'll be either on the front or back of the knuckle, and not on its sides. ...Read more
