I have a bump on my genital area, it is extremely pussy, and painful to the touch. What could this be?

Infected cyst?: Something like this is usually a non-STD skin infection, like an infected sebaceous cyst, boil, folluclitis, etc. It might need additional minor surgery to improve drainage, or perhaps an antibiotic. Or infected bartholin gland if you're female? If so, it could be gonorrhea or chlamydia. (Your profile says male, but you selected "female health" as a topic tag??) Either way, see a doctor soon. Folliculitis.: This is an example of folliculitis. There are a couple of ways to treat this--topicals such as topical antibiotics or topical corticosteroids. However, a more definitive treatment for this pesky condition would be to have laser hair removal. Even a couple of treatments would reduce the hair diameter enough to likely prevent these large painful foci of inflammation at the site of the hair follicle. Read more

Could I cure it myself? I have a small pus-filled bump on my genital area. Sometimes it swells up and is very painful and it is hard for me to move. I had a dr look at it and he told me it was an ingrown hair. I researched ingrown hairs and that is not

If: If the area is infected you will need antibiotics, and possibly a procedure called an I&D (incision and drainage). Otherwise, you could try warm compresses to the area three times a day, if it drains on its own, apply an antibacterial ointment to the area twice a day and monitor. If it does not improve see your doctor.
Good luck! Read more

Is it normal that I am a virgin but every now and then I get one or two redish bumps on my genital area? . It hurts sometimes when my pants rub it.

It can happen: Even w/o sexual activity, women can develop lesions on the vulva. Some are allergy or auto-immune in nature. Many are infectious in nature. The most common would be either an infected hair follicle (esp if you shave) or infected sebacceous cyst (basically a pimple). However, remember that some std's can be transmitted even w/o vaginal penetration. Ex: herpes only takes skin to skin contact. Read more

What to do if I am starting to get weird bumps all around my genital area could this be herpes or warts?

What to do if I am starting to get weird bumps all around my genital area could this be herpes or warts?

Doubt herpes, see MD: Herpes lesions: red bump to blister to open sore to scab to healing over 1-2 weeks; bumps with no change after 1-2 days cannot be herpes. Genital warts can last weeks or months with no change in appearance. If rapidly appearing, maybe molluscum contagiosum, but MC rare beyond age 25. If red and inflamed in the pubic area, maybe folliculitis, especially if you shave the area. Stop guessing, see MD. Read more

Is it mandatory for a female to shave in their genital area? Or is it ok to go without shaking to prevent bumps?

Is it mandatory for a female to shave in their genital area? Or is it ok to go without shaking to prevent bumps?

No need to shave: There is absolutely nothing wrong with pubic hair. It's just hair. Perfectly good hygiene can be achieved by properly rinsing in all the skin folds that girls and women have, hair or no hair. For some unknown reason, so many cultures across the globe have issues with pubic hair. It's just hair. Shaving it is fine too (but takes continuing work, and it can be itchy as it grows back out). I have a raised bump on my genital area im a virgin and the bump isn't oozing or anything just a bump what is this?

I have a raised bump on my genital area im a virgin and the bump isn't oozing or anything just a bump what is this?

Many possibilities: A "bump" in the genital area can be caused by any number of things, including a cyst (fluid-filled pocket), or a swollen gland (lymph node). Without more detail and an examination, it would be very difficult to be more specific. Best to go see your gynecologist or family doctor to determine exactly what this bump might be. Read more

Not herpes: Based on your description, it is very unlikely this is herpes and almost certainly not any STD. I doubt you caught it from the "oral relations". See your doctor for diagnosis and advice. Read more

I have 2 small red pimple like bumps on my genital area and I was wondering what they might be?

I have 2 small red pimple like bumps on my genital area and I was wondering what they might be?

Many possibilities: Herpes is often a consideration for pimple-like genital lesions. However, a lot depends on details: Exact location? Evolution from red bump to blister to pimple or sore over a few days, likely herpes. Unchanging bumps over 2+ days not herpes. Actual pimples, warts, and molluscum contagiosum may be possible. Sexual risks of course make a difference. Stop guessing and see a doctor. Good luck! Read more
