Abscess: An abscess can be incised and drained with a local anesthetic. Best start on the antibiotic or two different antibiotics to cover MRSA Staph and non-MRSA. Add heat compresses, then have the I & D the next day. It will need to be packed with gauze daily to keep it from closing back up.
