Trauma certainly can: If you haven't so far you need to have your eyes examined for evidence that trauma has left you with some significant issues. You may have had some internal bleeding (in the eye), be developing a pressure problem, etc. All this may end up causing permanent visual impairment if not treated. ...Read more

This is usually a benign condition but evaluation by an eyemd is needed to rule out associated eye or neurological pathology. ...Read more

Eye or Sinus: Does your eye look irritated or red, especially underneath the upper eyelid? If so, you may have a type of inflammatory surface reaction called superior limbic keratitis. If the eye looks normal, then the problem may be an inflamed eye muscle (orbital myositis), or sinus infection (there are sinuses on all sides of the eye socket except the outer side, and sinus pain can feel like eye pain) ...Read more

My 1yo boy's eyes looks normal but sometimes his eyes seems to have different movement between right n left eye. Is it normal? Should it be treated?

Disconjugate gaze 1y: This could be normal if he isn't focussing on anything, perhaps just waking up or getting sleepy, but if it persists, or gets more frequent, or you notice one eye looking in a different direction when the other eye is focussing on something, then he should be evaluted. Start with pediatrics, then you'll likely be referred to ophthalmology for further assessment if needed. ...Read more

What does the lens of the eye do that is different from the cornea?

Accommodation: Both the cornea and the crystalline lens function to refract the light into eye. Blepharitis: It sounds like blepharitis, inflammation of the eyelid. Your body's natural oil builds up on the edge of your eyelid around the lashes. Normal bacteria eat the built up oil and then secrete a toxin which irritates the eyes and eyelids. Hot compresses and removal of the oil through a special cleaning technique called lid scrubs helps. Sometimes antibiotics and flax seed oil are necessary. ...Read more
