Doctor can evaluate: On the left side are the ribs, chest muscles, the left lung, and the lining of the lung (pleura). Nearby are the esophagus, heart and arteries, lymph nodes in the armpit, etc... So, pain can originate from many places. Sharp pain on left side chest between ribs when lifting left arm + swollen painful lymph node under left armpit?
Some thoughts: A swollen painful lump in axilla (armpit) accompanied by pain on same side when lifting your arm is likely caused by an infection or inflammation of the sweat glands associated with hair follicles in axillary hair (hidradenitis suppurativa) or perhaps an irritation from deodorant. Pinched Nerves: Swollen lymph nodes in the arm pit is a concern for a physician. It is possible there are two different pathologies or conditions going on here. From the picture, it looks like there is climbing which could explain shoulder blade pain radiating to the neck and might be a pinched nerve. Costochondritis?: Superficial chest wall pain in young women is very common. If you press gently on the painful area and find a spot that's tender to the touch -- but not red, hot, or swollen -- that might be it. See an md if you have fever, cough, weight loss, bloody sputum, wheezing, or shortness of breath. Costochondritis is harmless and often due to stress. The possibilities : Are myriad. Gall bladder inflammation, shingles, pleurisy (worse with breathing, coughing sneezing). The pleurisy differential is long too. Need to know quality (stabbing, burning, lancinating), duration (all the time, after meals, when i sit up, etc). It is not likely heart or related to the breast.
