Pain Toe Knuckle
There is a sharp pain in my toe knuckles. It feels like I have to crack them, but when I do the pain doesn't go away. What could it be?
Osteoarthritis: Possible osteoarthritic changes at joints in toes. X ray examination should rule this in/out.See 2 more doctor answers
My brother fell at a friends house, and he thinks he chipped his toe knuckle, how do we confirm this?
Chips Ahoy...: I would expect that the toe would be swollen, possibly bruised and somewhat painful. All of these symptoms would be good initial indicators. However, the only effective way to tell is to have the toe x-rayed. In the meantime, applying ice to the area will help with the swelling and pain. Elevation might also have some benefit. Using the x-ray as a guide, the chip may be able to be re-positioned.See 1 more doctor answer
Why would my toes turn black a year after a amputation to 1st knuckle of the toes. They feel like someone is holding a match under them?
This could be: gangrene. You should see a doctor immediately.
I have crooked toes and toes that are rounded at the knuckle and bent sideways. Are there ways to fix them or just live with them?
If they are painful: Hey can be fixed. I am not a proponent of cosmetic surgery of the foot without pain as all surgery has inherent risk associated with it.
Osteoarthritis: Generally speaking there is more pressure on the joints of the lower extremity than the joints on the hands. This "wear and tear" on the joints of the feet contributes to degenerative arthritis or osteoarthritis. With the obesity epidemic we are seeing even more pressure on the joints in the feet. Fortunately we have a number of treatments to address this problem.See 1 more doctor answer
I hit my bby toe last yr, it swelled, turned black&pained. It has grown back rotated & the "knuckle" is big. Should I see a dr? Thanks
Yes: It sounds like a bedroom fracture. The small toe is often broken rounding the bed on the way to the bathroom at night. If the toe is deformed, a corn will likely form at some point. You may wish to see a podiatrist for evaluation and x-rays. Surgical repair may be indicated.See 1 more doctor answer
My long toe, after recovering a corn, it remains flaky and dry at the knuckle. It itchs if I scratch it but does not if I don't.Wht cream can I use?
To my knowledge No -: Cause has yet been established for it. It also does not result in any longterm ill effects. However having said that, if someone has it in joint, which has been ijnured in the past then it would be better to have that checked out by your orthopd with an xrays to see if there is a loose body or some other cause for it. Good Luck.
I was born with very dark toe knuckles, and I wanted to know what I can do to get rid of it, or lighten it?
Increased pigment: In joint areas is usually genetic. There are different natural and prescribed types of exfoliators and ointments that can help. Check with your provider for the best treatment for you!
My fingers, toes, and knuckles have randomly been swelling lately. They hurt pretty bad and have a warm feeling. What could it be?
I have two dark spots on my big toes (brownish color) - one on each 'knuckle' area of toe. Skin feels slightly rough there;no pain. What is it?
I am having pain in my second toe (none at base of toe) at the last knuckle and tip of the toe. It is an achy pain that seems to stay even with rest.
OH my aching toe!: You have provided a pretty good description of the distal phalanx and distal interphalangeal joint of the second toe. Often times this toe is a bit longer than the others. It is because of the extra length that this toe can be bumped or jammed more readily. Some times this type of injury is not felt initially, but is noticed some time after the fact. Often, Motrin and protecting the toe help.See 2 more doctor answers
Several things: It could be a cyst or a bone spur. Since painful, you should see a podiatrist.See 1 more doctor answer
I have a lump on my second toe on top of the uppermost knuckle no pain. Should I have it looked at?
Yes: Any lump should be examined. It may be something as simple as a corn, wart. Mucoid cyst etc. But, a lump is not normal and since we can't see it - have it checked out. It will give you peace of mind. A podiatrist would be a good doc to see for this.See 2 more doctor answers
When I run for over 30 minutes, the toe next to my pinkie bleeds on the top-side by the knuckle. Why?
Several things: Your toe may be elevated and being rubbed on the inside of the shoe creating bleeding.See 1 more doctor answer
What would cause m y "knuckle" on my big toe to hurt and swell like it was broken or sprained when I had no previous trauma?
Gout/Hallux Rigidis: Gouty arthropathy can cause significant pain in the absence of any trauma and occurs commonly in the 'great toe'. Arthrosis from prior injury or an inflammatory arthritic condition could also be responsible. NSAIDs are helpful and an orthotic with a morton extension carbon footplate can provide relief.See 1 more doctor answer
