Pain Sciatica Internal Blood Clot Hemorrhoid
How do I tell if the pain coming from my butt is sciatica or an internal thrombosed (blood clot) hemorrhoid?
The veins in the rectum can swell and become puffy when a person has frequent pressure on them from pushing out a bm. This is constipation. The swollen veins can burn, itch, or sometimes become severely painful (from a clot building up inside). Veins in the rectum are called hemorrhoidal veins and the sick, stretched out vein ...Read more
Recurring large amount of dark rectal bleeding Inc. Large Blood clots. Colonoscopy showed only internal hemorrhoid. OK to assume blood only due to it?
Unlikely : The bleeding is probably from diverticulosis or something known as an arterio-venous malformation (AVM). Since these can be anywhere in the colon, if surgery is ever needed to remove that section, it is important to find the exact location with a variety of imaging tests, usually only helpful during a bleeding episode. Hope this helps! ...Read more
No: Once a hemorrhoid has clotted, best option is to have it surgically removed. It will eventually shrink and resorb the blood leaving behind a tag but in the meantime the clotted hemorrhoid will be very painful and inconvenient. Sometimes the surgeon will simply cut it open and evacuate (remove) the clot ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Past couple days having maroon blood in stool and toilet Today same thing but passed a blood clot could this be hemorrhoids?
Unlikely: Hemorrhoids usually cause bright red painless blood and not clots. Maroon blood suggests bleeding somewhere higher in the GI track. It is also something that needs to be checked, this is especially true in someone on Motrin as yourself. If you have any symptoms of lightheadedness or weakness you should go to an UC or ER. Otherwise, call you PCP or GI doctor for an appointment. ...Read more

Ive had a history of hemorrhoids, i just had a bowel movement and i the toilet was red and when i wiped there was a little blood clot is that normal?
Could be: As a physician I do not like to describe things as "normal" or not but use ideas like expected or understandable. We are born with hemorrhoidal tissues and bright red blood and even small clots can come from them. If there was no pain then it probably was not a tear or fissure. Keep an eye on this and if it continues you really need to see a provider and have a rectal exam if not short scope. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have hemorrhoids that were painful and bleeding even without bowel movement. Pain gone, but now there is bright blood/clots, without bowel movement.
Elevate several fold: You are asking about the risk of blood clot in patients with cancer. The risk is increased several fold over normal people. Cancer cells themselves are making substances that help them move through the blood stream then stop and make more cancer cells. This favors clot. Patients with cancer also tend to have less activity as the cancer advances which also favors clot. ...Read more
