Maybe: There are many causes of belly pain, some of which are simply annoying, others are deadly. Assuming your doctor did thorough interview & exam, if stomach acid seems to be most likely cause, then high dose omeprazole (Prilosec) can help determine if acid is to blame. If symptoms persist, then other causes should be investigated. Acidity usually affects only upper, central abdomen. ...Read more

Many possible causes: Most of the causes of right upper quadrant pain after eating relate to the gallbladder, stomach, or upper digestive tract. Gallbladder disease, ulcers, and pancreas problems are all possibilities. Cancer is not likely at age 31. Initially, I would try antacids, such as Tums, to see if you get any relief. Gastritis/PUD: You may have gastritis, gastric ulcer, GERD or PUD. The other possibilities are biliary colic (inflammation or stones in common bile duct) & pancreatic abnormalities. Tips: try less spicy food, small meals multiple times a day,avoid nicotine, chocolate. Also try OTC anti-acids such as tums, Maalox, peptide or other H2 blocker; & Omeprazole or other PPIs.
