My son got hit with lacrosse ball last night and now has swelling and pain outside of hand from base of pinky downward. X-ray?
See doctor: If he has significant pain and swelling then it is possible that there is a fracture of a bone. I suggest taking him to a doctor or urgent care. Once a doctor examines the hand they can make a better decision about whether or not an xray is needed. I hope he is feeling better soon. Rest: If your assumption it is from texting than rest from texting will be the first thing to consider. Also you might want to consider an NSAID like Ibuprofen or aleve (naproxen). Icing the area can also reduce inflammation. These are the most common treatments for tendinitis or muscle fatigue/inflammation.
