Moderate-severe pain when moving or using wrist. Started few weeks ago, went away for a while but is back and worse. splinting helps a little, cant grip or make a tight fist or twist wrist without sharp excruciating pain. no finger involvement. ?
Give it time: If splinting helps - do it and be patient. Also try both warm and cold - use both or either if it helps. Let it rest for days and days. It takes time to heal. If it's still bad - have an eval - carpal tunnel can be tough but can be treated. Patience and caution! Best wishes. ...Read more

Should be OK: We used think that knuckle-cracking is bad and one may develop arthritis..There is no such evidence. As long as you are not having pain or instability in your joints/hands, popping/crackling by itself is likely harmless.. If you have additional concern, consult doc. Good luck. ...Read more

See someone: Have either your doctor, an ER or ortho se the hand maybe even X-ray it. There likely is some trauma that occurred, possible so simple you don't recall it. The hand could also be traumatized in sleep . I doubt its a medical condition such as an arthritis but it should be examined for anything such as trauma, sprains even foreign objects. ...Read more
