Neurocostal : Sharp ; burning pain seems neuropathic and radiation pattern around flank of lower chest suggests neural impingement at costal vertebral junction. Inspiration ; costal lift would be expected to intensify this pain. Perhaps a rib-vertebra subluxation is at play. Absence of cough, fever, ; shortness of breath discount pneumothorax ; infection. Costochondritis?: It's obviously difficult to ascertain if this is costochondritis or not based on that description, as this could theoretically be indicative of heart disease, reflux or even a problem with your stomach, spleen or large intestines. But if it were costochondritis, simple anti-inflammatory medications would help. But it would be more wise to have a local doctor evaluate you to be sure. ...Read more

Go to ER: Chest pain, especially when associated with heart palpitations should not be ignored. Please go to the er to make sure it is not a heart attack! sure hiatal hernias can cause chest pain but that won't kill you. A heart attack can and you can't tall which one without seeing a doctor stat! ...Read more

Worrisome: You don't mention age or any other symptoms, but the fact of the matter is that this is not normal and should not have gone on this long without an evaluation with ct scan and or colonoscopy. See a specialist and hopefully you have not waited too long to do so. ...Read more

UC/ER: Sounds like you need to be seen by a doctor soon. Urgent care or ER. At the very least they can prescribe medication to ease the nausea and vomiting and make sure you are being treated adequately for pyelonephritis if your UTI is not a kidney infection. ...Read more

Possible fracture.: It is possible to fracture a rib or just bruise it up pretty well. Sometimes the pain can be severe. As long as you are not having any shortness of breath (excluding that due to sharp pain with inspiration) you will heal. There is no real benefit to having rib xrays as the treatment will be the same -avoid injuring it while it heals. ...Read more
