Cipro/Flagyl: Flagyl often causes GI upset. Cipro (ciprofloxacin) less commonly. The Flagyl side effect can last 3- 4 days. Sip peppermint tea. Don't eat much that requires digestion. Stay with egg whites, soups, white bread, apple sauce. Check with your doctor to be sure you have not developed a complication, like abscess or rupture. ...Read more

How do I know if im having a diverticulitis flare up or ibs? I've been diagnosed with both. I have nausea, bloating, bloody stools, lightheadedness?
May be neither: How were you diagnosed with either. Even though you are young I assume you had a colonoscopy to rule out colitis and a CT scan to confirm diagnosis of diverticulitis which is uncommon in 30's. I say this because bloody stools are not usually seen with either of these. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Friend has diverticulitis. Dark bruise appeared at her hip area, rt side. Sign of internal rupture? No blood in vomit. She has nausea & dizziness.
No sign of rupture: If diverticulitis ruptures, it is typically associated with either local or diffuse abdominal pain, worse when you press on the abdomen, but not bruising. Sounds like a trip to her doctors treating the diverticulitis is in order or a more complete evaluation. If not being treated, head to primary care or urgent care. Hope this helps! ...Read more
I have an attack of diverticulitis. Taking metronidazole and cipro (ciprofloxacin). The nausea is killing me and i wanted to know if i could take Zofran or bonine ?
Can diverticulitis cause headache nausea and belching. I have these a lot.Have diverticulosis, ulcers, hiatal hernia. Gallblader was 33% on hida scan.
Nausea & belching: More likely come from ulcers & hiatal hernia than from diverticulosis. Ejection fraction on hida scan varies according to source: some give 30-35%; others give 35-75%. R u being treated for the ulcers & probable reflux from hiatal hernia? If not, see doc for rx: h2 blockers like zantac (ranitidine) or better, proton pump inhibitors like prilosec/prevacid/protonix; dos may also rx 1 of those + 2 antibiotics. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Dr gave me Alinia and Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for diverticulitis.Up all night insomnia ,nausea, jittery, leg pain.
Had Ciff 2 months ago. Is Augmentin worse than Alinia?
Not sure if you mean: Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) worse than Alinia in side effects? Both give you gastrointestinal upset symptoms, but jitteriness and insomnia should not be attributed to antibiotics. Unless the GI upset symptoms (nausea/ diarrhea/ etc.) are keeping you up. Make sure you drink LOTS of water/fluids to replace the volume lost since dehydration is the #1 cause of side effects while on antibiotics. ...Read more
