Which type of pain management is there for painful scoliosis?

It depends

Pain_management
It depends if you are an adult or a teen. Opioids and muscle relaxers are options. Nerve blocks may help. Physical therapy and a back brace may help. See a spine/scoliosis specialist first.

What to do for lumbar strain I have a very painful lumbar strain going on two weeks now. My dr refuses to refill my pain killers and I need them. What do I do? Do pain management drs take insurance? I need to ease my pain but drs are VERY hesitant to give

Typically,

Typically, an acute lumbar strain will improve with time and appropriate stretching and physical therapy. Often ice and/or heat will be of benefit, as well. Your post doesn't detail how you were injured or any of the symptoms you are experiencing specific to your problem. I would start by seeing your primary care doctor, reviewing your situation and coming up in a collaborative way a treatment strategy for you to follow. The first step will be to confirm whether or not the actual diagnosis is a lumbar strain versus other pathology such as a compression fracture, disc herniation and so forth. Good luck!

Pain management for chronic back pain?

Options

Pain_management
Always start conservative with any chronic pain, if you can, depending on the severity of the symptoms. If over-the-counter medications, short rest, ice/heat, stretching/exercise, doesn't relieve the problem, seek professional advise. You might need different prescription meds, injections into the pain generators of the spine, physical therapy, to help decrease the pain.

Dr. Robert Kent answered:

What are pain management doctors like?

All are different...

Pain
but they share the fact that the focus of their practice is on treating pain. Some use only medical management, which is mostly medication and physical therapy, where others use interventional techniques to treat pain. Most will use some combination of both. Recommend going to someone who has special training in pain or has experience in treating pain. Hope that helps!
