You: You may be straining your back muscles or facet joints. I would recommend alternating with your right side and sleeping on your back. You may also benefit from trying out a different mattress. If it does not improve or worsens I recommend discussing it with your primary care doctor. Good luck! Read more

Disk problem: Low back pain radiating to the buttock suggests an intervertebral disc bulging or ruptured causing pressure on a nerve root. Most of these improve in a matter of weeks but an MRI of the low back would give more information. Read more

Pain left side of lower back, above buttock. Radiates intermittently into groin and when it does, v painful. Eases with nurofen, worse on rest. Cause?

Radiculopathy: Refers to pain or other symptoms that occur in a location supplied by a nerve, when the problem occurs at or near the root of the nerve, shortly after its exit from the spinal cord. Radicular pain in the groin results compression or irritation of a spinal nerve root in the upper lumbar spine (low pain). This can result from inflammation surrounding the nerve root. Have pain in my lower back and sometimes left buttock. Hard to turn over at ngt and sometimes left hip and thigh go numb if I lay in that side 2 long?

See a DO soon: Your best bet it does is to see an osteopathic physician, who can do a complete osteopathic physical examination on you to determine if you have any postural asymmetry, scoliosis, trauma history that could be impacting your symptoms now. Your history will help determine whether your pain only happens while you're sleeping and resting on your side, or if it's continuous when you're walking or driving long distance. Read more

Have sore to touch spots on left side only in buttock, lower back, upper back, neck n chest. No injury or exercise. What could it be?

All on left side?: You're young at 28, but a pattern of spots on one side of the body suggests shingles or herpes zoster. If so, you could develop more pain than soreness. Best to get checked because some medications can help to prevent this developing and others can help manage the pain. Read more

Lower back pain just above left buttock and hurts to arch back and then hurts around the side to the low left front abdomen area. What could this be?

Difficult to tell: Without physical exam, but it sounds like it could be facet arthopathy/arthritis. This can often be felt in the back on one side often with radiation around to the side of the flank or feel like a sharp stabbing pain from the back forward. You also have had a c-section, which could lead to different fascial strains or muscular issues that could produce this. I would recommend a good physical exam. Read more

Greater concern for injured pelvic girdle ligaments from hyperextended sacroiliac joint during forced trendelenberg position when involuntary guarding & splinting of ligaments was forestalled by anesthetic.
