Could be: Maladjustment of your spine. It can cause all of you pain and proper realignment can fix it, now that all the bad stuff is ruled out. You need to find a good chiropractor to check it out and at least see it that is the problem. A good reputable chiropractor won't take your case if there is no benefit. ...Read more

What can cause upper back pain when I breathe?

A few things: Serious problems such as pleurisy are possible. In my practice, most such pain is due to a malfunctioning rib. Ribs should 'go up' in front and 'down' in back with inhalation and do the opposite during exhalation. When one or more ribs 'get stuck, ' pain-from ache to severe sharp in front &/or back can occur. A good history & osteopathic hands-on exam could determine cause. Manipulation may fix it. ...Read more

Pleurisy (Pleuritis): You are likely having pleurisy (pleuritis). Go see your doctor. Typical if this is all that it is, a prescription of nsaids like Ibuprofen will help take care of it.
