Sometimes large: Size is not the only criteria for appendicitis, Changes in mesentery and wall thickness. Another method of assessing appendix is ultrasound. If appendix localized inflammation in form of hyperemia is usually noted. Colonoscopy would not be method for assessment. An uncommon: finding (and usually it arises from the APPENDIX (which is actually a tiny appendage to the Cecum) It is a finding now more often seen since COLONOSCOPIES have become routine!
