Tendonitis?: Sounds like tendonitis and the inner ankle tendons are under a lot of stress when walking down hill or down stairs. Is that left foot arch also "flatter" than the right? If you've been having heel pain and walking in such a way as to avoid pain in your heel, it's possible the pain you're getting now is just from overuse in walking to avoid pain. Possibly nerve: The sharp pain sensation can be the result of a nerve that is being irritated in the arch area and/or the result of a ligament/tendon that may be pulled while you bear weight.
