I have been to the GP and have sprain where my metatarsal joins my foot.I go on holiday tomorrow so need to walk around.should I get crutches?
If just a sprain.: I am not sure of the sprained area as described. It sounds as though the sprain may involve either the metatarsal phalangeal or the metatarsal tarsal areas. Either way, if you feel you might need some relief from weight-bearing, crutches just may be the ticket. Depending on the severity of the sprain, a cam walking boot may also be appropriate. The best advice is to not over do it.
I broke my 5th metatarsal on my foot. No cast just foot boot and crutches. No weight bearing. When should i try to walk on it. I cant go to the dr i d?
Break in period..: There are breaks and then there are breaks. Without knowing the severity of the fracture, stress or otherwise, it is impossible to assign a treatment regimen. No matter what the degree of injury, it would be most wise to avoid weight bearing as much as possible and use the crutches with the boot.See 2 more doctor answers
I have metatarsal fracture in my foot and I was wondering how long till I can put weight on when I walk? It's hurting bad when I walk
I have pain when I walk on the bottom of my foot at the head of my 4th an 5th metatarsal. I had an xray and didn't see a stress fracture. What is it?
How can I know if I have metatarsalgia? I have pain on the ball of my foot that hurts even to walk on the bare surface of the floor.
So by definition: You have it. Now, the question is whats causing it.
A few things: Pain in the ball of the foot can be a frustrating thing- you are trying to heal a part of the body you put a lot of weight on repeatedly each day! antiinflammatory medication, padding in shoes, rest, ice can be employed. Looking at your shoes to make sure they fit well and are not excessively worn. Sometimes, injections or ach supports are needed.
What should i do for discomfort in the ball of my foot? feels like i'm walking on rocks when i walk on a hard floor barefoot.
Suggestions: There are several things that can cause this sensation. First do some warm soaks and massage of that area for a few days. Also don't go barefoot to protect your foot and wear socks and good supportive shoes. If the problem does not resolve then see a podiatrist or your family doctor for a diagnosis and treatment.

I have a morton's neuroma. After I have been off my feet for awhile, the ball of my foot hurts so i can hardly walk. Is that because of the neuroma?
Most likely: Morton's neuromas can cause severe forefoot pain, particularly after activity. Some say they feel like they are walking on a ball or that their socks feel bunched up.See 3 more doctor answers
I have a big knot on the ball of my foot that I cannot walk on that appeared after I walked tiptoed all day from my heel hurting. It is not discolor?
Inflamed joint: By "the ball of your foot" you're probably referring to the joint where the big toe meets the long bones of the arch of your foot. Walking tiptoe strained that joint. Take OTC Advil or Aleve (naproxen) for pain and inflammation. Wear comfortable athletic shoes. Avoid standing, walking & weight bearing as much as possible for a few days & try to find out why your heel was hurting. Best wishes.
Consult a podiatrist: Numbness on standing relates to entrapment of a nerve under the ball of your foot, this can easily be diagnosed with physical exam, I would recommend a podiatry consult, also try wearing an arch support insole with a metatarsal bump, might help in the mean time. Always wear thicker softer soled shoes to avoid this condition from getting worse.
What causes chronic metatarsal pain in the ball of foot? It hurts to walk, or stand, I do have morons toe.
What size ball....: Issues of "chronic" pain cannot be easily resolved without first discovering the history and true nature of the pain and it's chronicity. The ball of the foot means different things to different people. Does it involve just the first metatarsal or all five. A thorough back and forth type consultation would be the best way get to the nitty gritty of your pain.See 2 more doctor answers
What is the best way to get a splinter that is deep under the skin in the ball of my foot out. Painful to walk?
Would avoid: "Bathroom surgery". If the credit card trick - scrape against the splinter didn't work - I would not dig for it. The simplest option is to see a podiatrist. P.S. When was your last tetanus shot? Take care.
For 5 days now I feel pain under my foot. It feels like a foot callus but I cant see it. I feel something round and painfull under my foot when I walk?
Swelling: Pain and swollen, sounds like a plantar' wart. You can test for it be squeezing from the edges. This generally makes it feel worse. Have your doctor look at it. All the best.
