Go to the hospital: The symptoms you describe are very concerning given your age. Without something that makes you think of a muscle strain, this is even more concerning. If you are short of breath, nauseated, have palpitations or are sweaty, please seek care immediately. Call 911. This can be a heart attack or a problem with your aorta. I hope it is neither of those things, but you should be seen asap to be sure. ...Read more

My husband has a pain on his left side Of his back very saver it going from his Neck down his shoulder blade and Under his arm and the pain is very?

Just a thought: But you may be describing radiculopathy (A PAIN FROM A PINCHED NERVE IN YOUR HUSBAND'S NECK"!!)
Try HEAT on the back of his neck and check in with your PCP. A CERVICAL COLLAR (Drug Store OTC Item) may help!!
Finally an evaluation with range of motion/neurologic testing may also be helpful!
Hope this helps!

Last five days ive had slight pain under shoulder blade that occasionally radiates to arm pit and sternum. I did sleep on the couch which may caused.

Blame the couch!: You may have slept on the couch and rolled on your side, and slept that way for a long period of time. This is enough to cause your shoulder blade to be in a position that is not ideal unlike sleeping in your own bed. The pressure of side sleeping too long in one position can further affect your neck, shoulder positions and may cause your clavicle, AC joint and sternum discomfort. ...Read more

Neuralgia: A burning pain in the shoulder blade (scapula) is presumed to be due to nerve pain (neuralgia) due most likely to irritation or compression of the nerves supplying the area of the scapula. It may be due to a pinched nerve from sleeping in an awkward position. It's usually a temporary problem but can last for several weeks. If OTC NSAIDS don't help>> Rx for Gabapentin or Lyrica (pregabalin) will relieve the pain ...Read more

Arguably: Arguably the worst possible cause of severe pain felt in the shoulder blade and deep into the chest would be an uncommon condition called aortic dissection. Problems with the gallbladder and heart can also cause pain in the region of the shoulder or armpit (axilla). The spinal nerve corresponding to t2 also feels an area that involves the armpits and hoop-shaped strip of skin that runs across your chest above your nipples, through your armpits, and across your back at about the same level (it also involves part of the skin on the arm). After excluding things like dissection, heart problems, and gallbladder problems, a neurosurgeon may be helpful to get to a diagnosis and some relief. ...Read more

Go see ur FamilyDoc: Not much I can do online except to tell you to go see your Family Doc to get a diagnosis & appropriate treatment. Perhaps it's a sebaceous cyst that can be drained. Or maybe a lipoma that needs to be removed. I hope it's not a pus pocket. Regardless, given that it's affecting you, that means it's time for you to see in-person care. Good luck! ...Read more

Pain in right shoulder blade area & right arm pit extending across chest area. Had gall bladder removed could that have anything to do with this?

Yes if: Hi, If your gall bladder was removed laparoscopically within the past 5-7 days, then the pain you are having is due to the carbon dioxide used to inflate your abdomen during the surgery (thereis a neuro-anatomical reason for this). The percocet you are taking should help and the pain should disappear after the CO2 is all gone. If your gb surgery was much longer ago, see a doctor soon. Best wishes. ...Read more

Deep ache, sharp pains in arm from hand to all sides of shoulder for 2 months (started in hand, moved up) stabbing pains in shoulder blade. Cause?

Referred Pain: The sensation of "sharp/stabbing " pain may be a PARASTHESIA symptom often associated with nerve irritation/ inflammation/compression. However, I noticed you had chest symptoms also. I keep waking up with pain on my left side, burning in my shoulder blade, aches down my side and arm, an my hand is tingling?

Pinched nerve: Neck pain that runs down the arm or shoulder with or without numbness and tingling sounds like a pinched nerve in the neck. This is usually caused by a protruding disc or bone spur touching one of your spinal nerves as it leaves your neck. This can often improve on it's own with rest and anti-inflammatories, but if your pain lasts greater than one week or gets worse see your physician. ...Read more

I have left shoulder blade pain, pain under left breast and pain that goes from the left side of my neck down my left arm.

Pinched nerve: Because patients having cardiac problems can have these symptoms, you should have this ruled out. But the most common cause is an irritation of a nerve in the neck by a bone spur or herniation that can cause pain or numbness that runs down the arm into the hand. An MRI can usually show the cause of the problem if it does not resolve. Thank you for the question. ...Read more
