Swift kick: Soft tissue injury and bruising can take a good 6 weeks to resolve, but you should be noticing some very gradual improvement by now. If it's not improving at all or getting worse then a doc may order an X-ray to investigate possible fracture, but that would be unlikely at age 35 unless it was a horse that kicked you. Ice, ibuprofen or acetaminophen, gentle stretching and not overdoing it helps. ...Read more

Right sided pain: Right sided pain radiating to the back can be muscular, or caused by gall bladder or kidney problems like stones depending on whether the discomfort is high,low or middle. Your problem sounds more musculoskeletal and may be affected by back motions as well as coughing. If warm or cold packs and,if you can take them,nsaids like Advil don't help, see your physician for diagnosis and treatment. ...Read more

Piriformis Syndrome?: You may have a form of sciatica irritated by a muscle called the piriformis which can result in a burning sensation in the right buttock. Having said that I can tell you there are other possibilities which has to do more with hip pathology or hip socket pathology. You really need a good imaging study, a good physical/neurological examination, and POSSIBLY an electrical study (i.e. EMG test). ...Read more

Neck and Back Issues: Actually your arm pain may be due to something happening in your neck and the hip pain may be related to back issues. Other possibilities can be bursitis around the hip/thigh especially since you can't lay on that side. Since its bothering you i would consider seeing a physical medicine ; rehabilitation specialist or sports medicine doctor to further evaluate you. ...Read more
