Is it normal to have pain my right side three weeks after gallbladder surgery?

Is it normal to have pain my right side three weeks after gallbladder surgery?

Maybe: I assume you had laparoscopic surgery, as an open surgery has a larger incision ; longer healing phase. Pains that come ; go are normal after any surgery. If there is persistent fever, recurrent vomiting or increasing pains then contact your surgeon. ...Read more

After open gallbladder surgery, i've had really bad lower right side back pain and spasms. I mostly slept sitting up after. Can that be the cause?

Hard to tell: Although, surgery predisposes you to back issues due to some forced position during it, it's hard to tell whether your back spasms are a result of your recent surgery or another problem. Make sure to check with your surgeon to rule out any potential complications of the surgery and if so, treat the spasms symptomatically - stretching, heat, massage, topical rubs etc. ...Read more

Larascopic gallbladder surgery 4 weeks ago. After 2wks shoulder pain, pain just below ribs on right side and in midback. Could it be a trapped nerve?

Larascopic gallbladder surgery 4 weeks ago. After 2wks shoulder pain, pain just below ribs on right side and in midback. Could it be a trapped nerve?

Check with your doc: If this is newly developing, there sometimes may be fluid collection around the liver after the surgery. There are different things that can lead to this, so difficult to tell you simply hear. But the sensory nerves for that part of the body refer pain to the right shoulder - so the right shoulder pain has to do with the area around the liver. Definitely speak with your physician. ...Read more

Light colored, loose and chunky stools along with lower right side rib cage pain after gallbladder surgery 2 weeks ago. Normal?

Light colored, loose and chunky stools along with lower right side rib cage pain after gallbladder surgery 2 weeks ago. Normal?

Yes: Your stools may take time to adjust to a new normal after gallbladder surgery, as you no longer have the bile salts being secreted into the intestine to assist with digestion. As for the R-sided rib pain in the area of the surgery, it is not uncommon to have some residual soreness from the procedure itself. If redness, fever, distention in setting of the soreness would prompt more urgent check-up. ...Read more

Upper right side abdominal tenderness everyday as well as gastro issues. Could pain still be from gallbladder surgery i had on 6/9/13?

Upper right side abdominal tenderness everyday as well as gastro issues. Could pain still be from gallbladder surgery i had on 6/9/13?

Anything: Is possible but pain nearly 4 months after gallbladder surgery is not likely from the surgery. Would need to have an evaluation with your surgeon. Rare condition is pain from retained stone in the bile duct. May need blood tests & new ultrasound. Other possibilities are gastritis, pancreatitis, very rarely infection this late after surgery, etc. See your surgeon for an evaluation. ...Read more

I had gallbladder surgery 2 months ago so why now instead of hurting on right side, am I having a constant ache on the left side just under the ribs?

Hard to say.: It's not due to an absent gallbladder. Are you constipated..that could lead to some left sided discomfort. Stay well hydrated, eat well (no fat restrictions now), add some yogurt, and talk to your doctor. Good luck. ...Read more

Can be: Surgery has a major impact on the body (and mind!). The effects of anesthesia and post-op meds can persist for several months. Talk to your surgeon about this this week, and see what he says. ...Read more
