TMJ: Any signs of infection (fever, cough, pain with swallowing). It sounds as if this could be TMJ syndrome. The joint where your jaw pivots can get inflamed. NSAIDs such as Ibuprofen can help but need to be taken around the clock for 5-7 days. Ibuprofen dosing is 400-600mg every 6 hours (normal kidneys). Don't use if pregnant. See PCP if worse or new issues arise. ...Read more

I've recently developed pain in my ear and jaw joint or hinge and it's a very bad shooting pain causing my head and neck to hurt, what could this be?
Painless firm lump directly below ear, directly behind left jaw bone, right in that crease. Sometimes when opening mouth or lifting head up it'll move. No other symptoms other than random pains inside ear, but was cleared of ear infection months ago?
