I brought side sleeper pillow and my neck and shoulder pain has gotten worst. I can't raise my arm or lower it with feeling pain.

Shoulder pain: There are many possible causes of neck and shoulder pain including pinched nerve and rotator cuff injury. Since this seems to be getting worse so that now your range of motion is limited, you need further in-person evaluation. Try your primary care doc first. If no success, see a PM&R doctor next. PT or massage may help, but get the right diagnosis first. ...Read more

I've had left shoulder pain for about 6 weeks. No injury. I cannot raise my arm straight up in the air and I cannot extend it back to undo my bra.?

Muscle/tendon injury: Without a history of a specific injury, your pain could be coming from the fact that you strained the muscles (deltoid or rotator cuff) around the shoulder or sprained the ligaments and joint that join the end of your collar bone (clavicle) to the shoulder blade (acromion portion of the scapula). You should seek a thorough orthopaedic surgeon evaluation if the pain persists past a week. ...Read more

AC joint pain: Acromioclavicular joint pain (ac pain) is most commonly due to one of two things. In the younger group it is often associated with weight lifting (bench press) and an associated condition called distal clavicle osteolysis. It is also possible that it is ac joint osteoarthritis, but this is more common in patients older than yourself. ...Read more

How can I relieve the arm-shoulder pain after a workout?

Post work out pain: Make sure you are warming up; if you are seasoned athlete or weekend warrior, you must warm up before any workout — if this is not helping, you need a complete examination to determine the site and cause of pain — neck pain can radiate to the shoulder and vice versa — you will need an exam to tease this out. ...Read more

Would a compression shirt help with arm and shoulder pain/instability?

Prob not: As an orthopedic surgeon who treats many patients w/ shoulder instability I would say there is no proven benefit to wearing compression shirts for instability. In season football players w/ unstable shoulders may be helped by wearing 'harnesses' which limit abduction(movement away from body) and external rotation. Best of luck! ...Read more

See below: The possibilities are likely a primary problem with the shoulder itself or perhaps a radiating pain from the neck which can be caused by discs, pinched nerves or arthritis in the joints of the neck. If it generally is worse when you raise your arm, it is probably the shoulder, but only a good physical examination by a musculoskeletal doctor (orthopedist or physiatrist) should answer the question. ...Read more

Need evaluation. : Not only would we need more information about what’s going on with your shoulder, but I think it would be wise if you got a formal physical examination locally with an orthopedist.
