Ribs or Lung?: Pain when you take a deep breath seems to indicate that when your rib cage expands this is painful...This points towards a problem in the rib cage or pulmonary system although the possibilities can be many. Complicated: If you have lingering displaced upper ribs, you may have something called thoracic outlet syndrome. Easy to test on physical exam, have your pcp or sports med doc examine. If no one has checked your cervical spine, make sure that has been checked out also to rule out radiculopathy. You might also consider manipulation by a chiropractor or do for the displaced ribs.
