Lung (Definition)

Deoxygenated blood enters the lungs from the right side of the heart and travels to the lungs. When you inspire, oxygen flows into the lungs, transverses the capilliares and attaches to hemoglobin down a gradient. At the same time, co2 diffuses into the capilaries and is expelled with exhalation. Oxygen rich blood then flows to the left side of the heart and into the ...Read more

Go to urgent care: It's cheaper. You may have pleurisy- inflammation of the lining of the lungs from bronchitis, asthma, viral/bacterial infection.
Other remote possibilities include pneumonia (usually presents with cough, fever, chills), clot in the lungs (pulmonary embolism (will present with fast breathing, shortness of breath and same symptoms as above, you need a chest ct scan to rule this out)

Short of breath/pain in right lung area when I cough/stress test showed no problem/blood pressure jumping up-i am on blood pressure meds/need an opini?

Chest x-ray: You need a chest x-ray. At the very least, you have pleurisy. You could have pneumonia. Because you smoke and you're >60, it could be something nastier. A stress test would not be likely to show the problem since a stress test is a heart test and these are not heart related symptoms. You need to see your doctor to get the ball rolling. - good luck, TonyO. ...Read more

Are there viruses which cause chest/lung pain and coughing up green? How many days until I should consider dr. Visit/ chest xray?

Chest Lung Pain: Most acute respiratory infections start with a viral infection or an irritant, such as tobacco or reflux of stomach acid into the lungs. Green mucus just means mucus has been plugged for more than a few days. Use and expectorant, such as guaifensin, to help break up the mucus. Drink plenty of fluids. Any shortness of breath, or have cough that lasts longer than seven days, see a doctor. ...Read more

See allergist?: Although it is difficult to diagnose asthma before age 3, I think it is time for you to bring the child to an allergist. The risk of asthma is much higher when there is a history of eczema, asthma in the mother, or allergic sensitization (passive tobacco smoke exposure too). A cough lasting more than 4 months is way too long for a viral infection. ...Read more

Tactile fremitus on l/chest, only when exhaling deeply & hard. No pain, difficulty breathing or cough. Was chronic pot smoker. Should I worry?

Tactile fremitus: This is a term mostly used by old doctors like me, where did you get it? If it clears with a couple of deep breaths or a cough or two, it likely isn't a big deal. If you were examined by a dr. Who made this finding, then ask that doc what they think is going on. Simplest is go see your dr. And get checked out if you are concerned. ...Read more

Chest cold: Your upper respiratory infection has spread to your breathing passages and now you have acute bronchitis. There may be a component of asthma as well, even if you've never had asthma before. If you're uncomfortably short of breath, you should go immediately to an ER for prompt treatment. High BP, nausea, chest congestion, (no fever) difficulty breathing, cough, and dizziness when I stand up. Causes? Have an Echo in a week.

19 years old: All the symptoms you list can be caused by asthma/bronchospastic disease, which, in your age group, would be my first diagnosis. Infection or allergy can be a trigger and should be considered. Unless you have known congenital heart disease, the echo is unlikely to be revealing. Pulmonary function testing is higher yield. A chest x-ray may also help. ...Read more
