There are more common conditions that could produce the symptoms you describe. Als is very rare condition. Lots: Fluid retention from lymph issue, prior trauma/injury, nerve issue, back pain/injury, hip issue, knee issue... Get hint? In 20s there are a lot of potential causes that are way more common than als. See your dr or an orthopedist or neurologist for evaluation, testing and possible physical therapy referral. ...Read more

Unlikely : The diagnosis of bfs is a diagnosis of exclusion. If you have been diagnosed with bfs then ALS should have been ruled out . The two are unrelated and one does not develop into the other. It does not mean you can't develop ALS like at equal probability as the general population. Is there is a significant change in symptoms reevaluation would be indicated. ...Read more

Hey, tough guy!: Everybody's thigh goes twitchy occasionally. I think it's from a nerve cell or two dying off the muscle getting extra-sensitive to circulating acetylcholine. Nobody knows or cares. If it's your tongue or if you're suddenly not keeping up in sports, you might worry. ALS isn't treatable anyway so it doesn't matter. Get on with your life. Best wishes. ...Read more
