My daughter (9) has a bump on the right side of head behind her ear. It is solid but goes down sometimes. Not painful are all. Any idea?

Lymph node: Most likely it is a lymph node. A lymph node normally will increase in size during an infection somewhere in the general area of the lymph node. For example, an enlarged lymph node behind the ear is frequently caused by an infection somewhere on the scalp (like ringworm) or by irritated or flaky skin (like seborrheic dermatitis or dandruff). If it gets painful, or red or grows, see doc. ...Read more

I have an inflamation on the lower part of my right side of head & have another round hard inflamation just behind my ear which is painful.Pls explain?

Probable lymph node: I'm not sure exactly where the inflammation is on your head but if it is above and/or behind the ear then the bump behind the ear is probably a lymph node enlarged because it is involved or affected area will drain toward it. Try warm compresses but if continues for more than a few days then may need antibiotics. ...Read more
