Pain In Left Side Of Abdomen Under Ribs
Consider Cold Milk: If you aren't a smoker, who is overweight, and family history of heart disease, that is, it isn't your heart that is causing this, consider your stomach as being the culprit. Too much acid? How about drinking milk to coat it with cold milk. Not a treatment, but will give you diagnosis. Then go to your doctor. You are going to need their help.See 1 more doctor answer
Position: Any pain related to position sounds like musculo-skeletal in origin, not visceral. So you might want to try looser clothing, change chair position, that sort of thing. Area under the left rib cage means area of stomach, pancreas, spleen, diaphragm, so if it persists, these things need to be looked at. Also, it could be atypical angina, pain from heart muscle not getting enough oxygen.
Several things: Upper left abdomen contains spleen, tail of pancreas, splenic flexure of colon, part of stomach, left kidney, left lower ribs and muscles. Costochondritis, strained muscles, trauma to spleen, stomach ulcer or tumor, pancreatitis, problem with left lobe of liver, left kidney infection or stone, left lower lung infection, splenic flexure distention with air from irritable bowel syndrome, to name few.See 2 more doctor answers
I have a sudden pain on the left side of my abdomen under my rib it feels like and now it's radiating to my back. Feels like my back muscles are tightening. What could it possibly be? Should I go to the hospital?
Yes: There are multiple causes and you should get checked as soon as possible. If you doctor is not available then yes go to emergency room.
I am experiencing pain in left side of abdomen near rib cage is it costacondarites if yes can u suggest treatment?
Costochondritis?: It's obviously difficult to ascertain if this is costochondritis or not based on that description, as this could theoretically be indicative of heart disease, reflux or even a problem with your stomach, spleen or large intestines. But if it were costochondritis, simple anti-inflammatory medications would help. But it would be more wise to have a local doctor evaluate you to be sure.
Constant pain in left side of abdomen below rib. Pain started as stabbing on left side on belly button. Randomly feeling pain on lower right abdomen?
Nonspecific: Migrating pain could represent excess gas moving through the intestines, or if associated with diarrhea, nausea and vomiting could represent an intestinal infection. Could also be muscle pain if you've been doing abdominal work outs. Best to see your primary care provider for a more complete evaluation if it's that bad. Hope this helps!
Multiple causes.: Pain below left side of rib cage maybe muscular in origin, and/or related to the ribs. Muscle strain is possible. If is worsening or not resolving you must get checked. Other possibilities include stomach, liver, or even spleen disorders.
I am 30 years old and I have sharp pains that come and go on my left side of abdomen right below my ribs. Any suggestions?
Need more info: How bad is it? Is the pain on the surface at the rib or deep in the abdomen? Does it come and go or change with coughing? Does it move? Does it radiate anywhere else? What makes it worse? Activity? Eating? Did you injure yourself? Is it improving or worsening or the same. Other symptoms? Fevers? Chills? Change in bowel movements? Nause? If so, see a surgeon. Need a bit more info.
I am scared of any surgery for I experienced it already. Is their any way to melt the lump on my left side of abdomen area underneath my rib cage?
Hernia: I suspect you have a hernia. The alternatives could include a number of different tumors most benign that come to mind initially. I am sorry surgery is generally only method to remove or repair. You must first diagnose before treat please seek your physicians input then options can be discussed. Good luck.
Hi. I have a pinching pain in my upper left side of abdomen. It seems to be coming from just under the ribs. I have diverticulitis and IBS. IBS?
Nonspecific: There is no specific diagnosis to left upper quadrant abdominal pain. Sometimes I have seen muscle spasms here, associated with intermittent pain and a "bulge". This can be confused for a hernia, but the bulge is the firm muscle that's in spasm. You'll have to see your doctor for a more complete evaluation if you need more info. Hope this helps!
I am 24 yr Old female. I have a hard pea sized lump under my skin on left side of abdomen. It is near the bottom of my ribs. It has been there for the last 3 months. Some slight discomfort when I push on it or try to move it.?
Lump: Difficult to tell you what it is without a physical exam. It could be a sebaceous cyst, tiny abdominal wall hernia, tiny lipoma, aberrent lymph node..... Please see your physician to examine it and perhaps have it biopsied and removed. Even some benign lumps like lipomas can cause discomfort sometimes.See 1 more doctor answer
Dull pain in left side under breast x4.5 WKS. Feels like the pain is coming from ribs, breastbone, lungs, or upper abdomen. Not bad, but annoying. Dx?
Many possible: Pains in this area are most commonly stomach/esophagus (GE jxn), musculoskeletal (rib/muscle/connective tissue strain) and less commonly heart or pericardium or lung or mesenteric. But for allopathic dx it takes about $1000 worth of tests as well as a skilled practitioner. Remember, the textbooks weren't written to serve women.
Moderate spurts of pain left side of abdomen just below rib cage. Comes and goes. Soft frequent bowel movements. What could be wrong?
IBS: Possibly irritable bowel syndrome vs possible gassiness try yoghyrt oroducts.
Can't say...: There are many potential causes of chest pain, from musculoskeletal to respiratory to cardiac/heart, among others. Without a complete history & exam, it's impossible to determine the cause of your chest pain. You should make an appointment w/ your primary physician to determine what testing or treatment is needed. IF IT'S NEW CHEST PAIN WITH EXERTION, YOU SHOULD GO TO THE CLOSEST ER IMMEDIATELY

I have a severe sharp pain in the lower left side of my abdomen, just behind or maybe in my rib cage. Is there something I can do at home to fix this?
No short answer: I hope it is a muscular strain and can be helped by heatseveral times a day. In the rib cage would be more in the mid to upper abdomen. I do not like it being a severe sharp pain, if it is other than brief you should seek medical attention. It could be diverticulitis (an infected pocket in the intestine) and it may be ruptured.
I get a recurrent achy pain on the left side of my abdomen (underneath ribs). What could this indicate? It happens at random times
Bowel, kidney, spleen.: Not many things here: the colon makes a sharp turn and is often postulated to cause cramping or gas type pain, the kidney is there, but pain is typically more constant. Spleen also - pain is not usually "random." muscles of the abdominal wall at the costal junction can also cause this. A brief exam could help localize this.
