Pain In Left Side After Gallbladder Surgery
I had gallbladder surgery 3 weeks ago my left side of lower stomach is still swelled is that normal..
The gallbladder is a sac-like structure located under the right lobe of the liver. It is attached to the common bile duct via the cystic duct. The gallbladder can store bile when the bile is not needed, and can squeeze bile into the bile duct and intestine for digestion when a person eats larger ...Read more
I had gallbladder surgery 2 months ago so why now instead of hurting on right side, am I having a constant ache on the left side just under the ribs?
Hard to say.: It's not due to an absent gallbladder. Are you constipated. That could lead to some left sided discomfort. Stay well hydrated, eat well (no fat restrictions now), add some yogurt, and talk to your doctor. Good luck. ...Read more
I just had gallbladder surgery and I haven't urinated since I left the hospital. Should I be worried?
2 P or Not 2 P...: It is not uncommon for your bladder to get a bit "shy" after surgery due to the (pain) medications and anesthesia. If you do not feel the urge to urinate nor pain in the lower abdomen, I wouldn't worry. However, after 12 hours you should feel that urge; if not, I suggest you call your surgeon. ...Read more
After open gallbladder surgery, I've had really bad lower right side back pain and spasms. I mostly slept sitting up after. Can that be the cause?
Maybe: Would need more information. How long ago was the surgery? In the first few weeks after major open abdominal surgery, there sometimes can be some back muscle pains due to abnormal posture while sitting or standing. Try changing positions, stand up more straight, walk more, use local heat on the muscles. See your surgeon to be sure that you are healing properly. ...Read more

I had gallbladder surgery 2 months ago then had a leak. Recovery long. Now when I lay dwn feel pressure under right side rib. Is it just healing?
Postop Bile Leak: Postoperative bile leaks are rare but potentially very serious complications of gallbladder surgery. These are usually managed by the placement of drains: endoscopic (into the bile duct) +/- percutaneous (into the fluid collection). Depending on the site of the leak and method of rx, you may still be experiencing pain from an ongoing problem. See your surgeon as soon as possible. ...Read more
Larascopic gallbladder surgery 4 weeks ago. After 2wks shoulder pain, pain just below ribs on right side and in midback. Could it be a trapped nerve?
Check with your doc:
If this is newly developing, there sometimes may be fluid collection around the liver after the surgery. There are different things that can lead to this, so difficult to tell you simply hear. But the sensory nerves for that part of the body refer pain to the right shoulder - so the right shoulder pain has to do with the area around the liver.
Definitely speak with your physician. ...Read more
Why did I started having reflux and heartburn suddenly after gallbladder surgery 5 weeks ago? Is this a common side effect after this type of surgery?
Light colored, loose and chunky stools along with lower right side rib cage pain after gallbladder surgery 2 weeks ago. Normal?
Yes: Your stools may take time to adjust to a new normal after gallbladder surgery, as you no longer have the bile salts being secreted into the intestine to assist with digestion. As for the R-sided rib pain in the area of the surgery, it is not uncommon to have some residual soreness from the procedure itself. If redness, fever, distention in setting of the soreness would prompt more urgent check-up. ...Read more

Upper right side abdominal tenderness everyday as well as gastro issues. Could pain still be from gallbladder surgery I had on 6/9/13?
Anything: Is possible but pain nearly 4 months after gallbladder surgery is not likely from the surgery. Would need to have an evaluation with your surgeon. Rare condition is pain from retained stone in the bile duct. May need blood tests & new ultrasound. Other possibilities are gastritis, pancreatitis, very rarely infection this late after surgery, etc. See your surgeon for an evaluation. ...Read more
