Pain in right arm from where joint is down right arm. Can't move arm certain ways. Weakness in hand. No injury started suddenly. Hurts to move arm.
Rt Arm Pain & Weak: Sometimes pathology in your neck can cause symptoms like this out of the blue (disc bulges or protrusions). Stenosis (narrowing around the nerves) can do this but usually see this in much older patients. Nerves that appear to be involved in your hand are C6, C7, & C8. If you meant shoulder joint down, then C5 may be an issue too. UCC or ER can prescribe Medrol (methylprednisolone) dose pack. See if arm gets going. ...Read more

Two considerations: You might possess pinching of nerve in neck, cervical radiculopathy, and if arm is raised, you might feel less symptoms. Or, you could have thoracic outlet syndrome, and if arm is elevated, you will have more intense symptoms. One additional caveat, make sure that your pain is not of cardiac origin. Intrinsic shoulder : Joint problem, such as rotator cuff tear or frozen shoulder joint may be present. The numbness could be indeed "shoulder hand syndrome" or maybe brachial plexus issue associated with the shoulder pain. Perhaps a parsonage turner syndrome or even a thoracic outlet syndrome if symptoms worsen on arm elevation. However, sounds like a mix of joint and plexus.
