My left hand and arm have been going numb, with shoulder and neck stiffness in morning. Previously tested positive for Anti dsDNA. Gp thinks nothing?

Need more evaluation: Numbness may be nerve-related and you may need neurology evaluation. It may be metabolic, like thyroid or sugar. It may be mental, like anxiety disorder.

Positive anti-dsDNA antibody test may indicate an autoimmune disease such as lupus. You need to see a rheumatologist for further testing to confirm this or remove this as a possible cause. ...Read more

Couple of thoughts: 1) Herniated cervical disc 2) Viral meningitis followed by brachial plexitis vs cervical radiculoneuritis. Persistence over 4 weeks tends to support #1. Why are you sitting & suffering? If it's a herniated disc, you need to know. If it's something benign but painful, you need to know that too. Hie thee to a doctor and find out pronto. ...Read more

Can myelomalacia cause neck stiffness, headaches, pain through neck, arms and back? I've had a crick in my neck with all of these symptoms for 6 days.

Neck: Yes. Myelomalacia can cause all of the above symptoms if in the cervical spine region. At upper levels would be less likely to cause arm symptoms than mid to lower levels. Headache would be more common with upper levels. Seeing physician whether neurosurgeon or neurologist would be recommended for anyone with an MRI showing myelomalacia. ...Read more

Back of Head, upper neck stiffness, headache, heaviness in right ear, weakness in legs, numbness & radiating pain in left arm&leg. ECG normal. Worry?

Neurologist: These symptoms appear more neurological rather than cardiac. Numbness of left arm and leg can be caused by pathology in the right cerebral cortex which occurs from blockage in the right carotid artery or an intracerebral artery in the right side of the brain circulation. I recommend a prompt evaluation in the hospital emergency room where a brain cat scan and carotid artery ultrasounds can be done ...Read more

Evaluate heart: Neck strains/sprains can cause headaches and neck stiffness. Disc issues and arthritis of the neck could do the same. However, the high blood pressure, tachycardia, and numbness need to be evaluated sooner then later. You could get the headaches and numbness if your blood pressure is to high. You need to see a medical provider now. If your heart is fine then other workup can be done on the neck ...Read more

For the past week, my chest has been hurting consistently. There's numbness in my left arm, sharp pains, a burning feeling, and stiffness. Any idea?

Possible disc injury: Being 21 years old makes it unlikely that this pain is cardiac in nature. More likely you have a disc injury in your neck which is causing this issue. A c6-7 disc injury frequently causes chest (pectoralis) pain which can radiate into the tricep and arm. It can also cause numbness/tingling down the arm to the index and middle finger. I recommend you see a spine specialist. ...Read more
