WearAHeelPadForNow: After you pull-out that rusty nail, tell me if it doesn't feel better. No? OK. Then maybe it's what's called a "heel spur." No, not the ones cowboys wear on their boots but a little extension of bone off the heel bone. They can cause pain. If the pain is further up the heel, it could be a tendon irritation. Or further down, some fascia acting up. In any case, you'll need a doctor to diagnose it. ...Read more

Pain in heel of foot when walking just started one day ago take high blood pressure pillis and lipitor (atorvastatin)?

HEEL PAIN: Heel pain has many causes. Is your pain worse first thing in the morning or after periods of rest? Is it on the bottom or back of the heel? Plantar fascitis is the most common cause of pain on the bottom of the heel. Start by doing calf stretches, ibuprofen, and wearing arch supports (all day long). If that doesn't work see a foot specialist. Doubtful that your meds have anything to do with this. ...Read more

I have been getting really bad pain in the heel of my foot. Just one. Could there be something stuck in there possibly?

There could be: Particularly if you recall stepping on something or if you see a portal of entry on the bottom of the foot. But most of the time this is plantar fascitiis. If it hurts after getting up from long periods of rest it is likely plantar fascitiis and you do not have a foreign body. ...Read more

I have pain in the heel of my foot. It feels like its bruised and I am walking on stones. What should I do?

Plantar fasciitis.: The most common cause of heel pain is plantar fasciitis: an inflammation of a thick band of tissue that helps hold up the arch of your foot. It attaches to your heel bone, and is usually the most painful for the first few steps in the morning, or after sitting a long time and then standing quickly. See a podiatrist to rule out tendinitis or nerve entrapment (less likely). ...Read more

I have a sharp pain in the heel of my foot. It only hurts when I walk down steps.?

Heel Pain: Heel pain in any shape or form begins and starts with plantar fasciitis. This small ligament that attaches the base of the heel to the muscles on the bottom of the foot can become very inflammed and painful. A tight achilles tendon is also associated with heel pain. Having Sharp pain in heel with swelling near foot arc. Its severe in morning after i wake up.it hurts whenever i stand after sitting sometime.

Plantar fasciitis: There are a number of possible causes and I would not hesitate to be seen. Stretching the facia out or using an orthotic is usually the first line of treatment. ...Read more

I am having severe pain in the heel of.my foot and ankle and I seem to have no natural arch am I flat footed?

Possibly: Many patients with heel pain have low arches, however just because a patient has a decreased arch doesn't mean they necessarily will get heel pain. Most important is to get an exam for proper diagnosis and treatment for you. There are many excellent natural treatments I suggest for patients with plantar fasciitis/heel pain. Best wishes! ...Read more

I have pain in the heel of my foot. Started after moving into house with hardwood floors. Any concern or should I see a doctor?

Plantar Fasciitis: It sounds like plantar fasciitis. It is not unusual for people who have moved to a new location with hardwood or concrete floors to develop heel pain. You can perform simple stretches (ie. Runner's stretch), take over the counter nsaids as directed, and rest adn ice the area to reduce the pain. If these simple things do not help, i would schedule an appointment with a specialist. ...Read more

I have pain in the heel of my foot after walking over a crack on a sidewalk. Because I wear hard orthotics it is hard to get relief in that area.

Needs an evaluation: Orthotics are only a part of the treatment plan for heel pain. There is a triangle format of treatment where you start with the easy stuff and work your way up. Have you had any injections? How about CAM walker? how about physical therapy. Check in with your Podiatrist to get a better explanation. ...Read more
