R/O TONSILITIS: LATYNGITIS and recurrent sore throats can cause tonsillitis . You need to be examined and have a throat culture. If that is negative then blood work needs to be done to evaluate for other issues, especially H. pylori the ulcer causing bacteria that can cause halitosis//Gerd as well as laryngitis.. The treatment with amoxacillin therefore might not be indicated. Have it evaluated: You can certainly take the usual tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen which will help. A bigger questions is what is the cause? If there is swelling or firmness of the gland, you need to have it evaluated. It may be just a local infection. But you want to make sure it is not a manifestation of something more serious such as a tumor. Lymphomas in particular cause swelling of the neck glands. ...Read more

Urgent treatmrnt: You describe what sounds like a severe infection. I know that it is a little after midnight in the UK, but you need to be evaluated and stated on treatment urgently.
