A couple of things-: -come 2 mind.1=stress fracture or 2=shinsplints. The both have a similar progression. Fractures have a slow onset, & soreness gradually increases over timr. & you soon are not able to bear weight. It is more likely that you have a hematoma (collection of blood after an injury). The shin area is very commonly involved since there is a small amount of flesh between the skin and the bone. It will resolve in a month or 2.

Totally Normal: There is very little padding to the shin bone so it is very vulnerable to injury. Very likely you banged it up plenty as a little kid perhaps bike riding or smk=cking it against playground equiptment. That's enough to put dents in the bone that last a lifetime. ...Read more
