PAF: Patellofemoral syndrome would be my first thought. Patella stabilizing brace or strap and Phys Therapy program to strengthen the VMO of the quads can be helpful along with modifying exercise to avoid aggravation. Ice after exercise and NSAID if no reason not to take. Other common causes arthritis, meniscal tear or degeneration, loose body in the knee, bony bruise to knee host of others as well. ...Read more

Patella issue: Based on your age, I'd be thinking of a patella chondromalacia/ alignment issue irritated by activity. Also, you might have a patella bursitis if you've had some trauma to the area. I'd go with some rest, ice and NSAIDs. If symptoms persist, I'd get an orthopedic exam. ...Read more

Could B a patellar-: -subluxation or instability, also this leads 2 chondromalacia under the patella, mal-alignment can cause it also. If U R exceptionally tall, Marfan's is also possible & can B Dx'd with blood test & genetic makeup shows this in the blood. U should get into C a fellowship trained sports medicine orthopedic surgeon. ...Read more
