Many things!: Periostitis of the heel bone, plantar fasciitis, morton's neuroma, gout occurs in the morning, but attacks usually last longer than you are implying. Metatarsalgia from arthritis. Possible blood clot: This is a tough one. If its just one foot, first thing i would rule out is a dvt, or deep venous thrombosis. Limited motion: If you have pain upon dorsiflexion of the foot, ether are a numbers of possible reasons. Limited ankle joint range of motion is the first reason. Tight achilles tendon, and posterior muslcle group (gastroc-soleus) is another. Tight pantar fascia, or tight muscle groups within the foot (intrinsic). Consider this: The guillain-barre could be followed by a chronic immune neuropathic process called cidp, which likewise needs to be addressed. The ascending pain could be emanating from the ankle or perhaps coming from lower back, such as tarsal tunnel syndrome or lumbar radiculopathy, respectively.
