Pain In Big Toe Gout
Any diabetic with : Foot pain warrants a in person exam as there is little room for misdiagnosis. You could have sesamoiditis, a stress fracture, tendonitis etc. Any possibility of a charcot foot must be considered. You make no mention of skin integrity and this must be examined as well. If you have neuropathy a foreign body should be ruled out. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Left big toe tendon has lumps bumps and swelling along it and big toe is painful . Throbbing pain in big toe too?
I would: See a foot doctor. The question is are the lumps or bumps really on the tendon or in the subcutaneous tissues.....either way you should be examined, much easier to make a diagnosis like that in person... Possible ganglionic cyst is an example without seeing you but if I saw your foot inperson I would know right away if that's what you had. ...Read more
Can be many things: Unfortunately this is a very general question with hundreds of answers without more detail on your condition. But, combined the two can both occur at the same time from a low lumbar spine disc bulge or herniation causing a "sciatica". But, to show you why this is a tough question, it could be something totally different like gout or lyme disease from a tick bite, so much more info is needed. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Yes: If the toe is injured and inflammed, this can lead to contracture of the joint. This can put increased pressure on the metatarsal head causing causing irritation. A thicker, stiffer soled shoe with good arch support can sometimes reduce stress on the ball of the foot. Icing and antiinflammatories are also helpful. If symptoms persist, see your podiatrist. Can gout cause pain/swelling in 3rd-5th toe area that meets top of r foot only? Not big toe; blood uric arid test slightly high; ipuprofin helped.
What would cause sudden severe pain in big toe and toe joint? Not bruised or swollen. Can't walk on it. Sharp pain under toe where it bends.
Technically : The big toe joint would be the interphalangeal joint not the mpj, but, I'm not sure which you are referring to. If the ip joint, I'd look to see if the toe was straight or not. If not internal compressive forces may be irritating the joint. If mpj is bothering you look for dorsal spurring to be a cause, I.e hallux limitus. Gout also affects this joint. ...Read more

A mortons: Extension on an orthotic at times can be helpful, this will decrease any residual motion which may be present. Injections are sometimes employed. Intermittent s pain in big toe,red hard lump,no heat, swelling, shoes don't affect it,worse at evening, feels like circulation cut off, bunion or gout?
Could be either: A painful, swollen big toe joint that occurs from time to time is likely to be gout or other type of arthritis. See an orthopedic foot doctor or podiatrist for an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan. ...Read more

I am 24 years old and just had gout on my big toe. Once meds have been completed does your toe go back to looking normal?
First, you need to: Verify that it is indeed gout. A blood test will usually confirm the presence of a high or nigh-normal level of uric acid. If it is, then you will need some form of antiinflammatory medication. Each doctor has his/her favorite--colchicine, naprosyn (my favorite), indocin, sulindac, and more. Otc aleve, (naproxen) similar to naprosyn, can be good to try until you have your foot examined. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

I feel a pain under my big toe that feels like I have a splinter but I don't . What can it be? Someone mentioned it may be gout? Feet in good shape.
Tendonitis: If you're sure it's not a splinter it could be irritation of the fibrous connections under your toe. In my experience gout does often occur at the big joint of the big toe, but it is more severe than splinter pain. Take Aspirin or Acetaminophen (generic tylenol) and watch what happens. If pain persists or infection sets in, see a doctor. Soaking in plain water may help if it's tiny wood or glass. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Maybe not so easy.: More to the point, before trying to self diagnose, have it examined and eliminate all doubt.
