I have been having neck and shoulder pain on my right side for a week now. At times the pain will go down my right arm as well. What would cause this?

Could be neurologica: Go to a good internist or neurologist or neurologist and have him do a careful and thorough history and examination of you. There is a known distribution of the nerves and a careful examination will reveal just which of your nerves is affected. I have a dull achy pain in my upper right arm while and after lying down...What could be the cause?
Parasthesias: Possibly you are cutting off the circulation, simlar to your feet/legs falling asleep when sitting on them etc. This will cause lackof blood flow to the nerves and eventaully a dull ache, even tingling at times. Musculoskeletal: Strain and/or injury to the muscles of your upper back is most likely. A less likely cause would be degeneration or protrusion of a thoracic intervertebral disk impinging on a nerve.
