Residual pain from knee to ankle is an early symptom of fibular hairline fracture, followed by bowing of the leg and instability of the ankle joint. Other possibilities include partially torn ankle crucial ligament, nerve entrapment (tibial nerve impingement) or soleus muscle injury. What are the causes of pain from the knees to the ankles?

Could be a number of: Causes; like a tendonitis around the knee or sprains/strains of the ligaments/ muscles. Arthritis of the joint, cartilage issues. Referred pain from arthritic hip or from the spine could also be a cause of knee pain. Any injury with resultant fracture need to be evaluated for as well. See your orthopod. Good luck. ...Read more

I would be concerned: To rule out a clot in either of his legs, this would take precedence over other diagnose as this is serious. Swelling of legs is not unusual for someone with kidney failure. Elevation of legs and salt restriction is a must, need to discuss with kidney doctor. Physical therapy could help your dad get up from seated position but make sure no clots in leg. ...Read more
