Pain First Joint On Index Finger
Many possibilites: Pain at the distal interphalangeal joint of the index finger is commonly from arthritis...Its repetitive use in pinch activities makes that joint one of the first ones in the hand to wear out. Other possibilities include simple joint inflammation from overuse, gout, and the development of small cysts called mucous cysts.See 1 more doctor answer
Scraped off skin palmside first joint. Index finger tetanus, had silversulphadiaz had doxy. Skin has healed but can still see ragged edge of original?
Takes time: It will heal. Try using shea butter regularly or mederma to help it heal. It will over time.
Is my finger infected or is this a joint/nerve injury? I sliced open my right index finger on left side around/up over my first joint. Dr at the ER was unsure if I had caused nerve damage but gave me 4 sutures. This was 3 days ago and my entire finger I
There: There are a number of structures that can be cut in this area, including the skin, extensor tendon, lateral bands, saggital bands, lumbrical tendon, interosseous tendon, flexor tendon, and collateral ligaments, as well as the digital nerves. A hand surgeon can evaluate each of these structures to determine if there is a functional injury. Nerve lacerations are often best repaired soon after an injury--usually within 1-2 weeks. They can be repaired later, but then are more likely to require something to bridge the gap, such as a synthetic nerve tube. Tendon lacerations are also best repaired quickly. While infections can occur, usually you would have increasing pain, redness, and drainage.See 1 more doctor answer

Both my index finger jurt on the distal joint of each finger. It hurts when I push. What could be the cause of the pain? Thanks
Arthritis distal jts: Arthritis can casue this pain While early on there are no. Bumps on the distal joints near the nails that are called hebreden's nodes and the ones near the pip or middle joints, bouchard's nodes., stiffness and some swelling that makes the joints feel sore and tight at times can be an early sign. Speak to your PCP about medication and diagnosis. Warm water usually better if stiff/ice if soreSee 1 more doctor answer
When I press or move my left index finger I get pain in 'dip' joint on the underside though and slightly on sides of finger. No pain on top of finger?
Index finger middle joint is painful when curled. Joint painful when pressed. No visible swelling. No other symptom. Lasted about a week now.
Tenosynovitis is a: Likely diagnosis, but an actual diagnosis can't be given here. Tenosynovitis can be treated with immobilization (splinting or taping) and ibuprofen taken every day for a week, until the inflammation goes down. Consider a HealthTap Concierge visit if symptoms persist. Seek immediate care if swelling, redness or fever occur, because an infection in this location can get "out of hand" quickly.See 1 more doctor answer
Month ago, a small pointed object hit the second joint of my index finger. Now no pain but when I rub the skin, I don't feel. I thnk I lost sense in part?
Nerve injury: The nerves that give sensation to the fingers run down the length of the fingers on each side but closer to the underside or palm surface. You may have partially cut a branch or the nerve itself. It will most likely improve in time. Nerves grow about 1mm a day so it may take a month or two.
Been 6 weeks since I had the tip of my index finger amputated following an accident. I'm having a hard time straightening the middle joint. Any tips?
I had a deep cut one of the joints of my index finger, it was closed by glue but I now get sharp shooting pains in the fingertip when reaching, why?
Nerve pain.: Probably nerve regrowth in process. I am not sure how long ago your injury was, but this often takes several months to resolve.
Possible diagnoses: If the main problem is joint pain with activity and the joint is larger and feels bony, osteoarthritis is a possibility. If there is soft squishy joint swelling and morning stiffness, rheumatoid arthritis would be possible but in RA several joints are affected and usually both hands. Another possible diagnosis is simple tendinitis, usually from overuse. See your primary doc if it is not improving.See 1 more doctor answer
See orthopedist: I would see an orthopedic doctor for advice on this.
My index finger the second interior joint is purple and has a small buldge in it. It feels like if I were to have a small piece of glass in it.
Swelling and pain around the joint on my index finger. It has lasted for two months. No change it is either double or triple the size of other finger?
I am a 16 year old male and I tore a capsule in my left index finger about three and a half months ago. My finger is still swollen at the middle joint?
Unsure of injurty: I am not sure what a capsule is but if you have any swelling around a joint for that long that does not get better it needs to be seen by a doctor as it might be a broken bone- especially if it happened after an injury
Should I have my finger x-rayed? I don't know if I jammed, sprained or broke my index finger. I assume I didn't break it because I can bend it at the second joint at a 90 degree angle, but with slight pain, I'm assuming the best idea is to ice and tape it
Have it evaluated.: If you continue to have pain have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.See 1 more doctor answer
